Boliden celebrating 💯 years of innovation and progress!   Shining a spotlight on one of our youngest and most modern operations – Boliden Kevitsa.   Located in Sodankylä, northern Finland, Kevitsa is a multi-metal mine that, in just over a decade, has become a cornerstone of the local economy and a hub of innovation within the mining industry.   Automated, electrified, and constantly evolving, Kevitsa is pushing the boundaries of what mining can achieve in the 21st century. For example, Finland’s first electric trolley line opened in Kevitsa at the end of September 2022.    Kevitsa plays a vital role in the Sodankylä community, offering valuable employment opportunities and fostering talent through strong collaborations with local training providers.   Kevitsa’s story is one of perseverance and progress. Empowering the Future of Mining with Mathilda and Kajsa-Stina ⚡️   At Boliden Aitik, powering up the mine is more than just a job—it's a dynamic challenge that @Mathilda and @Kajsa-Stina, the only women in a team of 16 electricians, tackle daily. Born and raised in Gällivare, these two took different paths to join Boliden but share the same passion for their work.   "No two days are the same here—we're like the electrical emergency team, always ready to keep production running," they say. Their dedication shines through in everything they do, from handling high voltage to solving complex problems in sub-zero temperatures. In an industry often seen as male-dominated, Mathilda and Kajsa-Stina prove that teamwork and determination are what truly matter. International Pride Month 🌈 International Pride Month is coming to an end. It’s a time for joy but also for raising awareness about the ongoing challenges the LGBTQI+ community faces. Respect and appreciation for all employees are crucial at Boliden: It’s about safeguarding psychological safety and tolerance for every team member. Therefore, we recently launched a new online course focused on LGBTQI+ inclusion in the workplace, available to all employees: “Knowledge gives us a better understanding and awareness of what we can do to become even more inclusive at Boliden, so that everyone feels welcome,” says Anna Yngström, Manager of Talent and Performance. Rävlidmyren: Restoring a Former Mine Site for Environmental Protection and Sustainable Land Use 🌿 At Boliden, we take on a long-term responsibility to restore and manage the land that has been affected by our mining operations. The Rävlidmyren mine reclamation project aims to restore a closed mine by cleaning up the mining waste left behind and securing it in long-term storage to protect the surrounding environment. This initiative, in collaboration with Skanska, focuses on finding smart and efficient solutions for the project’s success. The first two years involved extensive remediation. Now, the project is transitioning to a new phase, aiming to create valuable and sustainable land use that promotes biodiversity and reindeer grazing. #sustainability #biodiversity #responsiblemining
