❗ Update — Draft Government Proposal on the Implementation of the EU’s AI Act! The Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment of Finland organised a stakeholder event on the draft government proposal yesterday, 6 November 2024. What was said about sanctions in Finland? ❌ Maximum sanctions are set out in the EU AI Act. ❌ In Finland, the minimum amount of sanctions is proposed to be set at EUR 10,000 (businesses) and EUR 1,000 (individuals). ❌ Pursuant to the draft proposal, sanctions cannot be imposed on government authorities and municipalities, etc. However, it was clarified that sanctions may be imposed on private limited companies designated with public administration tasks. What happens next? ❌ Comments on the draft proposal may be submitted until 4 December 2024. ❌ The Government proposal is expected to be issued to the Parliament in March 2025. ❌ A new Government proposal on Sandboxes is expected in Spring 2025. 📌 Hannes Snellman x The Shortcut As part of our partnership with The Shortcut, Hannes Snellman lawyers Emmi Kantola and Thomas Landell held a training for the participants of The Shortcut’s training programme for international talents and early-stage entrepreneurs. The purpose of the training was to give an introductory, practical lecture to start-up entrepreneurs (and to be entrepreneurs) on the basics of Finnish contract law in the context of establishing a start-up and raising funding. The training concentrated on some of the most essential documentation and contracts for start-ups, including the shareholders’ agreement. 📑 Our Hannes Snellman team appreciated the warm welcome received from the participants and the interesting and lively discussion sparked by the lecture. The training event provided an excellent opportunity to interact and exchange ideas, and we are only too happy to continue assisting start-ups and their founders in any questions they may have in the future. 🌟 The Shortcut is an impact-driven non-profit organisation dedicated to bridging the gap between professionals from abroad seeking employment in Finland and Finnish companies.
