Procurement plays a crucial role in advancing climate goals and sustainable development at Ilmatar. 98% of our CO₂ emissions stem from the construction of renewable energy facilities and the materials used in these assets. This means that nearly all emissions are generated in the supply chain. Although we achieved a positive climate impact in 2024, we recognize there is still more to be done. We are strongly committed to ensuring that our supply chain operates as responsibly as possible – but challenges remain. Tuukka Kraft’s EMBA research highlighted variations in subcontractors' ability to monitor and reduce emissions. While some subcontractors are already leading the way, others still require more support in reporting and developing sustainable solutions. Read more about the research and our approach to responsible procurement on our website! #Sustainability #Procurement #RenewableEnergy #Careers https://lnkd.in/dm8txwbx

  • We captured our mission into a one-minute video! The global climate crisis demands a faster shift to clean energy. The industries that power our societies must electrify, and for that to happen, massive investments in renewable energy are essential. The Nordics have the potential to lead this transition - but only if we act now. We, at Ilmatar, deliver large-scale, reliable, and sustainable energy solutions that drive industrial growth and create long-term value. We invest in wind and solar power, flexible storage, and long-term PPA agreements that provide businesses and industries with stable, predictable energy pricing. It is about energy - and it’s about shaping the future. It’s about ensuring that businesses, investors, and societies thrive in a world where clean energy is the foundation of prosperity. At Ilmatar, we are not just participating in the energy transition - we are driving it. Are you with us? Changing society. With Nordic renewable energy.

  • For the second year in a row, Ilmatar was invited to speak at Aalto University’s highly sought-after Energy Linkage course, led by Executive-in-Residence Christian Langen and Professor Jens Schmidt. This time, Mika Jantunen, our Head of Technology, took the stage to share insights on the Finnish electricity market, the role of long-duration energy storage (LDES), and how we see the future of renewable energy evolving.   "Finland’s electricity production is already very green — the next big challenges lie elsewhere. Before we see the next major investment wave in production, electricity consumption needs to grow", Mika says.   A big thank you to Aalto TUTA - Aalto University, Department of Industrial Engineering and Management for the opportunity to engage with such a diverse and talented group of students. Looking forward to continuing the discussion next year!   #EnergyTransition #RenewableEnergy #LDES #FutureOfEnergy #AaltoUniversity

  • A new Swedish legislative initiative will significantly simplify the permitting process for solar energy projects. This is a welcome step for renewable energy producers, as it will:   🔹 Reduce bureaucracy with a centralized permitting authority 🔹 Ensure a faster process with a three-month review period of the application scope 🔹 Lower costs and boost investment in solar power. With long summer days, strong infrastructure, and political support, Sweden has great potential for solar energy growth. This reform will make the market more efficient and competitive. Looking forward to seeing how this develops!   Read more on our website!   #RenewableEnergy #SolarPower #Sweden #EnergyTransition https://lnkd.in/dVriuMQb #RenewableEnergy #SolarPower #Sweden #EnergyTransition

❗Suomen energia-, teknologia-, kemian- ja metsäteollisuus ovat luovuttaneet pääministeri Petteri Orpolle julistuksen, jossa ehdotetaan lisätoimia Suomen teollisuuden uudistamiseksi ja kestävän kasvun nopeuttamiseksi. Julistuksen on allekirjoittanut yli 200 teollisuusyritystä, jotka vakuuttavat olevansa valmiita uudistumaan ja rakentamaan tulevaisuuden ratkaisuja.   Suomella on ainutlaatuiset edellytykset uuteen, kestävään talouskasvuun. Energia-alalla on valmius vastata teollisuuden voimakkaastikin kasvavaan puhtaan sähkön kysyntään. We were delighted to welcome a student group from Kyoto Sangyo University, led by Professor Daichi Yamamototo, explore Finnish renewable energy in our beautiful headquarters in Helsinki! Anna-Maria Palmroos introduced the students to Ilmatar’s HR policies and ESG principles, sparking lively discussions. ESG, in particular, emerged as a key area of interest. Jussi Mäkinen provided an overview of the wind power industry’s rapid growth and Ilmatar’s projects. It was inspiring to see the students’ enthusiasm and curiosity about renewable energy, a relatively new topic in Japan’s education system. These visits are mutually enriching, allowing us to share and learn together across borders. Thank you for visiting us! #Japan #CoOperation #Sustainability #WindPower #ESG

  • Today, we celebrate Alvar and Aino Aalto and Finnish Architecture & Design Day, and what better place to do so than in one of Aalto’s iconic buildings, our headquarters – Sugar Cube (Sokeripala) in Helsinki in Kanavaranta 1! We’ve now been working in this stunning space for about a year, and we couldn’t be happier. The natural light, clean lines, and timeless design – hallmarks of Aalto’s architecture – create an inspiring environment for working with renewable energy. What makes this office special for our team? For some, it's the breathtaking city views; for others, it's the open, airy spaces. And of course, the location in the heart of Helsinki is hard to beat! Timeless architecture, a great work environment, and a commitment to a sustainable future – a combination that just works. #AlvarAalto #Sokeripala #SugarCube #Helsinki #Architecture #Design #Workplace #RenewableEnergy Images: DEKA

  • We have submitted the environmental permit application for the Uppsalebo solar park project in Västervik municipality, in Sweden. Covering 380 hectares, this 290 MW project is set to become one of Sweden’s largest solar parks, driving renewable energy production in the region. This milestone reflects Ilmatar’s commitment to expanding green energy in southern Sweden, alongside our other two major projects Tönnersjö and Olivehult. Now, awaiting approval to start construction, with a target completion date of 2034.   https://lnkd.in/dinaVgtu #RenewableEnergy #SolarPower #Sustainability (Image from Joroinen, Finland)
