🎯 No one really likes #permitting related things – that’s why Finland has done some significant reforms to the permitting processes in order to make it easier for companies to especially invest in clean and green transition initiatives. Our green permitting guide helps you get started 👇 💡 Between 2023–2026, #greentransition projects can receive priority in the permit application process. From 2025, Finland is offering a new clean transition placement permit that allows certain industrial projects to bypass traditional zoning requirements – provided they meet environmental impact assessments and certain other criteria. 💡 By the beginning of 2026, these and other permitting initiatives will be coordinated through a new one-stop-shop permitting authority. By consolidating permitting applications into a single digital process, the new authority aims to significantly accelerate permit approval timelines. 🌿 Finland is focusing on equipping students with #skills relevant for the green transition. 💡 Pressure is mounting for businesses to meet #sustainability regulations. The European Green Deal and the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) are among the main frameworks driving environmental responsibility and corporate governance. While these are European initiatives, their influence extends beyond the continent. 💡 Finland aims to create a well-rounded workforce that supports international companies in many different fields of sustainability. Finnish educational institutions now offer some 70 sustainability-focused programs, many of which are taught in English. Areas covered include advanced materials, biomass engineering, circular economy principles and creative sustainability. 💡 “One of Finland’s defining strengths is the ability of our people and institutions to cooperate extremely well around common goals. This is what we’ve done to create a sustainability ecosystem that we’re inviting the world to share in,” says Kaija Laitinen, our Senior Advisor. 👐 Co-operation is key to Finland’s critical communications success. When Finland has been named the happiest country in the world again, what became abundantly clear is that the Finnish society operates under a heightened level of trust. 💡 Happiness is not about just smiles and laughter for Finland, more so a deep sense of the satisfaction that people have with their lives in the country. Trust forms the basis of a deep sense of togetherness among the population of 5.5 million people, which can be seen across all aspects of society. 💡 From a business standpoint, many industries in Finland are recognised for their strong sense of community characterised by open information sharing and mutual support. In a turbulent world, this community of trust represents a solid foundation upon which to build critical communications. 💡 Did you know that whether they’re with the police, fire brigade, emergency medical team, armed forces or other critical infrastructure, all Finnish public safety officials have access to the same public safety network? Operating under the same system of communications saves time and improves situational awareness, resulting in more efficient decision-making and fewer lives lost. 🇫🇮 Finland ranks as the happiest country in the world in the UN World Happiness Report – for the 7th time in a row. Why? 💡 The answer is rooted in the fundamental trust present throughout the Finnish society, enabling individuals to feel safe and relaxed – which research shows contributes to well-being and productivity. 💡 Another reason is the proximity of nature and the disconnection it offers. In Finland, you are never more than a 10-minute walk from a park or forest. Clean water, unpolluted air and unspoiled nature greatly contribute to wellbeing and happiness – and nurture creativity.
