It is clear that the already strong relationship between Finland and Norway, highlighted this week by Finnish President Alexander Stubb's state visit to Norway, continues to grow. Nordic+ is a driving force in electrification, automation, and digitalisation within the transport sector, and our cooperation must deepen to meet the challenges ahead. Nordic+ and COO Jenny Simonsen (She/Her) Simonsen from ITS Norway emphasises the importance of taking clear, tangible actions to elevate transport and mobility to the top of the agenda and mind. Nordic+ calls for action from CEO Håkon Haugli of Innovation Norway, CEO Lassi Noponen of Business Finland, the CEO Jan Larsson from Business Sweden, and other Nordic and Baltic innovation and financial organizations as well as our transport ministers: Let’s prioritise mobility and transport by leveraging electrification, automation, digitalisation, and data standards to create a robust, safe, and resilient transport network across land and sea. This focused collaboration will give more opportunities for our companies and provide a stronger platform to position the Nordics as leaders in sustainable transport solutions. Suomeen perustetaan avaruustilannekeskus 🛰️ Hallitus esittää rahoitusta avaruustilannekeskuksen perustamiseen. Mistä on kyse? 🔹 Rahoitusta esitetään liikenne- ja viestintäministeriön, puolustusministeriön sekä maa- ja metsätalousministeriön hallinnonaloille. 🔹 Liikenne- ja viestintäministeriön osuus rahoituksesta on 411 000 euroa. 🔹 Esitys vuoden 2024 kolmanneksi lisätalousarvioksi annettiin eduskunnalle 10.10.2024. - Avaruustilannekeskuksen perustaminen on merkittävä askel Suomen kokonaisturvallisuuden kannalta. Monet yhteiskuntamme tärkeät palvelut nojaavat satelliittijärjestelmiin, ja niiden häiriötön toiminta tulee varmistaa. Liikenne- ja viestintäministeriö on ajanut avaruustilannekeskuksen perustamista vahvasti koko hallituskauden ajan ja olemme erittäin tyytyväisiä siitä, että päätös nyt saatiin yhdessä tehtyä. Tässäkin hallitus toimii suomalaisten turvallisuus edellä. Avaruustilannekeskus tulee todelliseen tarpeeseen, toteaa liikenne-, viestintä- ja sisäministeri Lulu Ranne. Mikä avaruustilannekeskus? 🔹 Avaruustilannekuvaa tuotettaisiin yhteistyössä Suomen kansanvälisten kumppanimaiden kanssa 🔹 ja tiiviissä yhteistyössä kansainvälisten avaruusvalvonnasta vastaavien organisaatioiden kanssa. 🔹 Kansallisen avaruustilannekeskuksen operatiiviset toiminnot rakennettaisiin olemassa olevien organisaatioiden yhteyteen. Uutinen avaruustilannekeskuksen perustamisesta tuli sopivaan hetkeen, sillä nyt vietetään myös maailman avaruusviikkoa. The 72 Hour Transport Challenge (72 Tunnin Liikennehaaste) is celebrating its 10th anniversary. This year the competition is bigger than ever to celebrate the anniversary. The Challenge will start on October 22nd, and will feature two hosting cities instead of one: Helsinki and Tampere - the largest regions in Finland . Around 100 students will participate in the challenge to celebrate the anniversary. The competition's main question is still a secret, but instead of a rivalry between two major cities , the goal is to find new climate-sustainable ways of moving between cities. For the first time, the challenge also includes the idea of regenerative, or renewing, design. "We want students to find ways to promote, for example, biodiversity and the circular economy, and not just reduce the negative impacts of urban development." 📢 New Dates for the 16th ITS European Congress in Seville ERTICO - ITS Europe, in collaboration with Seville City Council and supporting organisations, confirms that the 16th ITS European Congress will now take place from 19 to 21 May 2025. This change accommodates Seville’s role as the host city for the 4th International Conference on Financing for Development, organised by the United Nations in June 2025. While this change was unexpected, it reinforces the Congress’s theme of Clean, #Resilient, and Connected Mobility.
