🚀 We’re thrilled to announce that the I-CARE4OLD project’s seven-country pilot led by NHG has officially kicked off in Finland this week, with the Helsingin kaupunki – Helsingfors stad – City of Helsinki leading the way as the first organization to participate! Our facilitators, Maikki Messo and Anna Salminen, visited a homecare clinic in Kontula, where a clinician was introduced to the clinical decision support system we’re developing. This innovative tool provides critical insights for complex cases, helping clinicians navigate challenging treatment decisions —such as determining whether to recommend medications with anticholinergic properties for older adults. These decisions are especially demanding when managing patients with multiple chronic conditions and complex care needs. The decision support system helps clinicians make informed choices by illustrating how specific treatments might affect key outcomes, including hospitalization risk, physical functioning, cognitive decline, and fall risk. Initial feedback from the first pilot confirms that the tool is compact and user-friendly, essential qualities for ensuring adoption in everyday clinical practice. Running through the end of this year, this seven-country pilot, e.g. in the US, will shed light on the benefits, potential risks, and clinical impacts of decision-support tools like this one. Stakeholder feedback has underscored a strong need for such systems, and as the pilot progresses, we’ll be exploring the best ways to integrate them into clinical workflows, who should be using them, and under what guidelines. Stay tuned for more updates as we continue to drive innovation in healthcare! 🌍👩⚕️🧑⚕️ #ICARE4OLD #healthtech #clinicaldecisionsupport

Kanta-Häme Pioneers a new model for remote solutions for home care services through the iHAC Project 👵🧑💻Driven by a commitment to improve remote care options for the elderly, Kanta-Häme’s wellbeing services county Oma Häme - Kanta-Hämeen hyvinvointialue seized the opportunity to transform its home care digital services by joining the iHAC project, with the support of Nordic Healthcare Group (NHG) Finland Healthcare Group (NHG). The goal? To create an integrated, cohesive model that ensures equitable access to remote care across the region. 👩⚕️💡The workshops not only gathered insights from staff but also involved relatives of home care users and representatives from senior organizations. This provided a well-rounded perspective on care needs and areas for improvement. Additionally, home care professionals, even those outside the remote and digital team, were able to contribute practical suggestions, giving the project a strong connection to on-the-ground realities. ➡️Read more on the project: https://lnkd.in/dxNRdA-w #iHAC #remotecare #digitalization #elderlycare #homecare 📸Picture: Kanta-Häme

💡 Guidance for the Economic Evaluation of Prognostic and Predictive Companion Diagnostics 🔍 We conducted a systematic scoping review to identify the complexities in the economic evaluation of prognostic and predictive companion diagnostics (pCDx). 🎯 Our study reveals key challenges and proposes six considerations to improve pCDx assessments, such as incorporating sensitivity and specificity, addressing cut-off thresholds, and considering the pre-test probability. These insights aim to improve the economic evaluations of pCDx. 💎Come discuss the findings of the study with our expert Tuukka Hakkarainen at #ISPOREurope2024 poster session 4. ISPOR Poster Code: EE671. Our study is part of an EU-funded project called RadioVal, where the aim is to develop validated AI-tools to guide the neoadjuvant chemotherapy decision-making in breast cancer. Nordic Healthcare Group is responsible for evaluating the cost-effectiveness of the developed AI-tools. #RadioVal #ISPOR #poster #predictive #AItools #economicevaluation

💜As the mental health awareness month is coming to an end, we wanted to highlight a study published today in Finland on the benefits and effects nature can have on many diseases, including mental health.🌲🌲🌲 A recent report suggests that Finland could achieve annual benefits of hundreds of millions of euros in the treatment of depression, type 2 diabetes, and asthma through the use of nature. This conclusion comes from a study conducted by the Natural Resources Institute Finland / Luonnonvarakeskus (Luke) and the Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare (THL), funded by the Finnish Innovation Fund Sitra. For the study, researchers reviewed key Nordic research data on the health effects of nature from the past 20 years. There is research evidence from the Nordic countries on the impact of natural environments on the incidence or treatment of these significant public health diseases. The calculations were performed by the social and healthcare expert company Nordic Healthcare Group (NHG) Finland. For the first time, the report assessed the economic significance of nature's health effects in Finland using health economics methods. According to the calculations, the annual total costs of depression and type 2 diabetes could rise significantly if the number of green spaces in urban environments decreased. In the case of asthma, it was found that increasing weekly visits to nature could reduce the annual medication costs for asthma. 💊💵🍃👨👩👧👦 The health benefits of nature bring substantial economic advantages, and their broader utilization could curb the costs to society caused by national diseases. Researchers propose a national nature health program that would embed the health benefits of nature into people's daily lives and healthcare. ➡️Read more in Sitra’s news article: https://lnkd.in/dsVVkP2A #mentalhealth #depression #nature #awarenessmonth #research #health
