In Finland, the coming weeks will be some of the year’s darkest, but also bring memorable, sunny mornings. At the Millennium Prize Forum, we experienced our own "golden hour" as we showcased the warmth of Halia® warming tables ☀️♨️   Amidst the bustle and discussions around and by our shared booth with VTT and Business Espoo, we got to share warm cups of coffee and showcase Halia warming tables to visitors, and other fans of Halia warming (our VTT LaunchPad spinout mates included).    Congratulations to the recipient of this year’s Millenium Prize, Professor Baliga for his contribution to energy efficiency, through insulated gate bipolar transistors (IGBTs), which have dramatically reduced global energy consumption. We recently had the honor of joining BusinessOulu, and Pohjois-Suomen rakennusklusteri | Arctic Construction Cluster Finland, at their booth for the BATIMAT / INTERCLIMA exhibition in Paris which we shared with Oulun Hirsiset Oy and Kontio France, known for its excellence in architecture, interior design and as a globally shining star in the hospitality sector. So, we were excited to sit people down at our Halia® warming pilot table to test the waters for our energy efficient warming surfaces. We spent four amazing days receiving feedback from a truly diverse international audience......electricians, restaurant owners, architects, furniture designers, construction materials suppliers... and the responses were tres magnifique! People couldn't believe the read out on the energy meter, when they felt the warmth from the table ♨️ Thank you also to the Team Finland delegation visiting the booth. We had a chance to discuss trends toward energy efficiency in France with Matti Anttonen the Ambassador of Finland to France, and Peter Eriksson, Président Chambre de Commerce Franco-Finlandaise. Halia® warming surfaces was a top 5 finalist at the Smart & Sustainable Marinas 2024 innovation pitch competition in Monaco last week! Nous etions parmis les 5 finalistes et ça été un  vrai plaisir de partager la scène avec des start-ups innovantes. Thank you, Monaco Marina Management and Yachting Ventures, for inviting us to the 4th edition of this high-profile event at the Yacht Club de Monaco. It is inspiring to see how passionately and holistically marina operators and developers, architects, start-ups, investors and other industry leaders tackle the topic of sustainability of marinas and yachts. Une organisation 5 étoiles,  un personnel agréable, un menu de chef et des interventions de qualité. We are delighted to share exciting news from the PropTech StartUp & Scale-up Europe Awards 2024, which took place last week in Brussels.   We were a finalist for the second year running!   It was already an honor to be shortlisted in the European top 50, but truly exciting to be among the 13 finalists selected by a panel of 70 jury members from across all of Europe. We are grateful for this recognition and the warmth with which Halia® warming surfaces is being received by this international PropTech community.   We'd like to thank the organizers for providing the stage to pitch Halia® warming, settings to connect with potential customers and investors, and to learn more about EU regulations and tools for change that shape the PropTech industry moving forward.   Warm congratulations to this year's winner Paebbl for their impressive work on turning CO2 into future-proof building materials.   This was the 6th edition of the PropTech / ConTech StartUp & Scale-up Europe Awards. It’s an exciting time for all of us at The Warming Surfaces Company as we continue to grow, thanks to the support of those who share our vision. One of our key partners in this journey is ELY-keskus - Centre for Economic Development, Transport and the Environment. Their grant is helping us take a crucial step forward as we pilot projects in Finland, verifying the energy-saving potential and CO2 reduction of our innovative Halia® warming technology. With this grant, we’re advancing our smart surface heating solutions, which use thin, flexible materials to create energy-efficient, responsive heating elements. These systems, seamlessly integrated into high-pressure laminates (HPL), deliver comforting warmth exactly where and when it’s needed, all while using less energy and fewer materials.
