🧠💪 Mental health is just as crucial as physical health; they’re more interconnected than you might think! This year, on World Mental Health Day, celebrated on 10 October, we focused on the theme: "It's Time to Prioritise Mental Health in the Workplace." Remember, mental health struggles are more common than you think—1 in 4 people will face a mental health challenge in their lifetime, according to the World Health Organization. It's time to break the stigma and foster a supportive environment. Let's spread awareness and prioritise mental well-being! 🌟 #MentalHealthMatters #WorldMentalHealthDay #SupportEachOther #AspenMedical #LautokaHospital #BaHospital #FijiNews

Aspen Medical Foundation, the registered charity of Aspen Medical, has announced $80,000 (FJD) worth of scholarships for nurses at Lautoka and Ba hospitals. Aspen Medical Chief Executive Officer in Fiji, Gavin Whiteside, said, “These scholarships are part of our commitment towards providing continuous support and career opportunities for our team. “The investment in our team will ultimately benefit our patients and the community, and we are proud that we can offer this opportunity to not one but four members of our team”. Two scholarships will be provided through the Australian College of Nursing for Postgraduate Diploma studies in Neonatal care, while the other two scholarships will be provided through the Fiji National University for nurses to complete their Postgraduate Diplomas in Emergency Nursing, ICU Nursing, and Perioperative Nursing. Aspen Medical Foundation Chair Ms Sian Keys said, “Scholarships are an integral part of the Aspen Medical Foundation’s philanthropy, whether directly with individuals or through tertiary institutions. By supporting current and future healthcare workers, whether they be in Australia or the Indo-Pacific, we can make a tangible impact on those working directly in the communities and the communities they work in.” Applications for the Australian College of Nursing will open in March 2025, whilst the Fiji National University scholarships will begin next semester. They will be awarded after the university has accepted the candidates. #AspenMedical #FijiNews #ourpeople #FurtherEducationandTraining To learn more, click on the following link; https://lnkd.in/gP9H2Upc

We are happy to share that we have partnered with Tourism Fiji to preserve Fiji’s beautiful islands by participating in their nationwide anti-litter campaign. As part of the campaign, Tourism Fiji has launched reusable bags crafted from recycled materials. These multipurpose bags are designed for use in various settings and offer a practical and eco-friendly way to collect and store waste until it can be appropriately disposed of. The campaign aims to foster a sense of pride and highlight our important role in protecting the environment. The concierges at both of our hospitals are distributing these bags. #IfYouCantBinItBagIt #FijianPride #SaveTheEnvironement #FijiNews #AspenMedical #BaHospital #LautokaHospital

Collaborating with our regional partners to enhance public health is vital. We recently hosted two Hospital Major Incident Medical Management Support (HMIMMS) courses in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea. Our Director of Medical Services, Dr Mara Vukivukiseru, and Consultant of Clinical Education and Development, Mamatuki Sosefo, significantly contributed to the success of this initiative. This round of training, funded by the Australian Government, involved 46 participants from eight provinces across Papua New Guinea. Instructors from PNG, Fiji, and Australia led the training, which focused on strengthening local disaster preparedness and health emergency response capabilities. Participants took-part in hands-on workshops, simulations and development strategies for hospital response phases: reception, care, and recovery. Collaboration between PNG, Fiji and Australia strengthens the region’s emergency response capacity. 💪🌏 #HMIMMS #DisasterPreparedness #EmergencyResponse #RegionalCollaboration #FijiNews
