In collaboration with the Ministry of Trade, Co-operatives and Small and Medium Enterprises, we visited local vendors yesterday at the Flea Market in Suva 🇫🇯, to promote our Sustainable Event and Conference Merchandise Innovation Challenge. This initiative opens new doors for MSMEs across the Pacific region, connecting them to local, regional, and global value chains through innovative, circular economy-based solutions. As the Pacific continues to grow as a premier events destination, we are committed to addressing their environmental impact. This innovation challenge empowers local businesses to create sustainable merchandise that meets global standards, while also providing the opportunity the top 3 winners to design and supply merchandise for UNDP Pacific office. This is more than an innovation competition—it’s a pathway to sustainable economic opportunities for Pacific MSMEs. Additionally, the top 10 participants will receive critical mentorship and training, equipping them with the capacity to scale operations and succeed in larger markets through our Supplier Development Program. This initiative creates long-term economic opportunities for our local businesses, helping them thrive and expand within local, regional, and global value chains. UNDP Pacific is proud to be driving this initiative, helping local businesses embrace sustainability and unlock their potential for resilient economic growth.
