Today is UN Day. 🇺🇳
Message from UN Resident Coordinator Fiji, Solomon Islands, Tonga, Tuvalu and Vanuatu Dirk Wagener
The founding principles of the United Nations—peace, security, human rights, and development—remain as vital today as they were at our inception in 1945.
In a world where challenges continue to evolve, from climate change and conflict to inequality and health crises, these principles guide our collective efforts to build a more just, inclusive, and sustainable future.
The UN’s commitment to multilateralism, cooperation, and the dignity of every human being anchors our work in the #Pacific and beyond, reminding us that, even amidst uncertainty, our shared values are the foundation for progress and a better tomorrow.
Together, we can overcome adversity and turn challenges into opportunities. Our work in the Pacific is not just about addressing the immediate needs of today, but about laying the foundation for a sustainable and brighter tomorrow.
On this UN Day, I reaffirm the UN’s complete solidarity with the Pacific. We will stand by your side on the climate change frontlines, work tirelessly to advance the SDGs and regional goals, and support a future that is inclusive of women and youth.
Together, we can build a stronger, more resilient Pacific.
Happy UN Day to all - let us walk together toward a brighter and sustainable future. It is in our reach.
