⚡ In the heart of China’s Solar Valley in Dezhou stands the Sun-Moon Mansion, one of the world’s biggest solar-powered structures. Serving as the headquarters of Himin Solar Energy, an exhibition centre and a hotel, this 75,000m² building was designed to model the shape of a sundial. With over 5,000m² of solar panels installed on its roof, the Sun-Moon Mansion exemplifies China’s commitment to solar energy, contributing to the country's status as accounting for one-third of the world's total installed photovoltaic capacity. 🌊 Let’s focus on North Wildwood with this Vision-1 image. The New Jersey city has been battling against beach erosion for the past few years. Southern Right Whales, averaging 15 meters in length, are easily detectable in very high-resolution satellite imagery. 🐋 Using their detection algorithm, SPACEWHALE, BioConsult SH and its team have identified 62 whales and 32 calves in a single satellite image. SPACEWHALE is a ground-breaking method for detecting whales in very high-resolution satellite imagery, enabling monitoring in the high seas where traditional boat-based or aerial-based surveys are difficult to execute. Finishing our journey across Asia, let’s head to Singapore, a city-state full of stunning architecture, including the Marina Bay Sands. This shopping and hotel complex opened its doors in 2010 and has 2,560 rooms. These three towers host the highest infinity pool in the world, stretching 150 meters in length. This Pléiades Neo HD15 image gives a bird’s eye view of the entire complex. 📸 Summer satellite imagery series #5 🛰️ For this fifth post, let's journey to the Asian continent and discover Kazakhstan. In the country’s capital, Astana, stands the Bayterek Tower. Built in 2002 to commemorate Astana becoming the country’s capital, this iconic tower welcomes visitors but also some surprising features: an aquarium, an art gallery and bars. With this Pléiades Neo HD15 image, take a closer look at the intricate flower garden designs surrounding the Beyterek Tower. The magnificent golden sphere atop this 105-meter tower is a sight to behold! Did you know? 📸 Summer Satellite Imagery Series #4 🛰 Next, we stay in Europe to visit the region’s largest port, located in the Netherlands. The port of Rotterdam spans over 50km in size and processes nearly 15 tons of goods per second. As the gateway port to Europe, it sees almost 3,000 ship movements daily, supported by an extensive rail and pipeline network. Our Pléiades Neo HD15 image reveals the port’s Wilhelmina pier in sharp detail, a landmark where pleasure and cruise boats dock. These large passenger ships can accommodate several thousand passengers, ready to embark on travels across Northern Europe.
