On the 24-Jun-2024, the Timor-Leste South Submarine Cable System (#TLSSC) has landed in Dili, Timor-Leste. TLSSC is a 600km subsea cable connecting Dili in Timor-Leste to the North-West Cable System (NWCS) owned by Vocus Group. It will provide connectivity between Díli and Port Hedland and Darwin situated in Australia. TLSSC will be the first submarine telecommunications cable connecting Timor-Leste and therefore represents a significant milestone in developing the country's infrastructure enabling unprecedented opportunities for growth, innovation, and development. The ASN project team and Marc Genot (Vice President of ASN's Energy Solutions Division) attended the ceremonies organized to celebrate the landing of the cable, which were also marked by the participation of Kay Rala Xanana Gusmão (Prime Minister of Timor-Leste), Miguel Marques Gonçalves Manetelu (Ministry of Transport and Communication), Caitlin Wilson (Australian Ambassador to Timor-Leste) and other Timor-Leste dignitaries. The ceremonies also provided an opportunity for the Timor-Leste government to honour national heroes by dedicating the names of the repeaters and the bypass unit to national heroes/heroines. #dili #timorleste #submarine #cable #subsea #telecoms #telecommunications #ceremony #landing
