We are excited to welcome Alice & Bob to our portfolio and the AVP family! Alice & Bob has secured a €100M Series B funding round, led by AVP, Future French Champions (FFC) and Bpifrance, to accelerate the development of a practical quantum computer. Why Alice & Bob? At the heart of their quantum hardware efficiency is the suppression of bit-flip errors, one of the two major types of errors that plague quantum computers. This breakthrough is crucial for enabling more efficient architectures for Fault-Tolerant Quantum Computers (FTQCs) that can resist errors and be used in real-world applications. Alice & Bob is the only company developing quantum computers exclusively with this type of qubit, which they have pioneered since their founding in 2020. The new funding will expedite Alice & Bob’s goal of building the world’s first useful quantum computer by 2030. Nearly half of the funds will go towards the construction of a state-of-the-art laboratory and production facility. “We’ve been following the quantum computing space closely at AVP, and we are now confident that quantum computing is transitioning from pure R&D to an ‘industrial’ phase, ready to tackle real-world use cases. We were very pleased to host the Strider Technologies teams yesterday in Paris for a networking dinner with around thirty C-level executives from large corporations and entrepreneurs. On this occasion, Greg L., CEO and Co-Founder and David Vigneault, former Director of the Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS) discussed the current geopolitical context and the uncertainties weighing on the world today. It was also an opportunity to better understand how Strider Technologies can support large corporations and scale-ups in understanding and managing risks. Companies today face the dual challenge of managing global operations amid persistent adversaries and adapting to expanding government regulations that prioritize national security risks. This approach, while not always intuitive, has historical precedent during periods like the Cold War. The reality is that industry is now a battleground in 21st-century great power competition, placing companies on the front lines.
