🇫🇷 France: A Land of Champions 🏅 !
I was thrilled to be invited to speak at yesterday’s event at the U.S. Ambassador’s residence in Paris, hosted by Her Excellency Denise Campbell Bauer, as part of the “France - Land of Champions” series organized by Business France. This celebration highlights the robust relationship in sports and economic cooperation between France 🇫🇷 and our Number 1️⃣ foreign investor, the United States 🇺🇸.
During the games, Business France is involved in 40 business events held at embassies and Olympic Houses of participating countries alongside French companies. These gatherings aim to foster exchanges, create business opportunities, and propel French SMEs and mid-sized companies onto the global stage. A big thank you to the Ambassador Denise Campbell Bauer for bringing together so many French and U.S. companies – yesterday, we had over 180 enthusiastic participants 🎉 !
France 🇫🇷 is in the global spotlight with incredibly innovative Olympic Games emphasizing environmental sustainability:
🌎 Hosting 204 nations, 6,000 athletes, and 2,000 artists in a green Olympic village.
♻ Halving the carbon footprint compared to previous games.
🏚 Transforming the Olympic village into housing for 6,000 people, with 30% designated as social housing after the games.
The sports industry is crucial in both France and the U.S. In France, it generates €77 billion annually, accounting for 2% of GDP and supporting 448,000 jobs. Major events like the French Open, Tour de France, and 24 Hours of Le Mans showcase our excellence. Meanwhile, the U.S. sports sector generates $500 billion annually, supporting 3 million jobs, with prominent leagues such as the NFL, NBA, and MLB.
Our cooperation in sports is essential, as the U.S. is the top investor in France, with over 4,500 American companies employing 450,000 people and investing €150 billion in various sectors. French companies are also heavily invested in the U.S., with 4,800 subsidiaries employing 750,000 people and investments exceeding $350 billion.
France is also a Land of Tech Champions, as AI is revolutionizing sports:
📍 Enhancing player performance, injury prevention, and fan engagement.
📍 Platforms like WSC Sports use AI to generate personalized content.
📍 Sports franchises, such as the Texas Rangers, leverage AI to interpret and analyze scouting reports and other data.
📍 CrowdIQ analyzes crowd data to optimize the fan experience.
After the 2024 Olympic Games, we will proudly pass the baton to the U.S. 🇺🇸 for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics. France is ready to share its expertise in organizing sustainable sporting events, aiding the U.S. in preparing for the 2028 Games.
Together, we can achieve great things across all sectors of our economies!
To conclude this exceptional tour, Business France will organize a major investor day on September 6th, bringing together over 150 companies.
