CarbonX Climate is pleased to announce a new collaboration with The Center for Negative Carbon Emissions (CNCE) at the Arizona State University as the two organisations work to strengthen the company’s review process of Carbon Removal suppliers. CarbonX places a high priority on conducting thorough technical reviews of all carbon removal suppliers before entering into offtake or commercial agreements. Comprehensive due diligence processes minimise integrity delivery and integrity risks for its buyers and financing partners. The company has fortified its inspection process by securing the ASU Center for Negative Carbon Emissions as a systematic reviewer of its project assessments. This complements the existing CarbonX network of sector experts, which will continue to be leveraged for expertise on individual technology and carbon dioxide removal pathways. “Collaborating with the ASU Center for Negative Carbon Emissions is an important step in elevating industry standards and expanding buyers' confidence in the nascent carbon removal market. The last months have proven to be a testament for us to utilise the centre’s unparalleled carbon dioxide removal expertise. We appreciate the value they bring to our review process,” said Thomas Bellec, Head of Carbon Solutions at CarbonX. “ASU is at the forefront of creating carbon removal technologies with more than three dozen inventions focused on the passive capture of CO2. Our collaboration with CarbonX allows us to use our expertise to support and guide the carbon dioxide removal market in new ways,” said Klaus Lackner, founding director of the ASU Center for Negative Carbon Emissions. Lackner is also a Senior Global Futures Scientist with the ASU Julie Ann Wrigley Global Futures Laboratory. In 1999, Lackner was the first person to suggest the technical capture of carbon dioxide from air in the context of carbon management. The ASU Direct Air Capture Testbed is a world-class facility whose researchers provide a comprehensive understanding of carbon capture and storage, climate policy, certification, sorbent development, supply chain, and long-range planning experience for climate change mitigation. The testbed can quickly screen the performance characterisation of sorbents for carbon capture, which allows for sorbents to be scaled up. Through this collaboration, CarbonX aims to contribute to setting the highest standards for the carbon dioxide removal industry. #CDR #ClimateAction #ASU #CarbonX

Congratulations to our Project Partner Vesta, PBC for the latest successful deployment of Olivine in the field and for pioneering Coastal Carbon Capture. We are thrilled about the substantial new data that will emerge from this latest deployment and to be part of their journey towards advancing the science of Coastal Carbon Capture and galvanizing global deployment. #coastalcapture #enhancedweathering #carbonremovals
Vesta is proud to announce the successful deployment of our Coastal Carbon Capture pilot project in Duck, North Carolina. We estimate this pilot project will remove approximately 5,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide after accounting for its emissions, and it will be extensively monitored by independent third parties. We are excited to advance the world's understanding of the role olivine sand can play in making coasts more resilient while addressing the root cause of climate change.
