Today is #WorldStrokeDay – so why are we publishing a new article about blood nutrient levels? 🤔 Our study indicates that many stroke patients have insufficient levels of certain nutrients – including vitamins, fatty acids, and minerals – and that this could negatively affect the body’s repair processes after stroke.   To make the problem worse, malnourishment is known to be common in stroke patients. But there’s good news, too: research like ours can support the development of targeted nutritional interventions as part of a multidisciplinary stroke rehabilitation program. 💪     With 25% of adults experiencing stroke in their lifetime, the right nutritional support could optimize functional recovery in patients worldwide – and change millions of lives for the better.   Check out our new article for more insights from our experts: https://lnkd.in/eGwDbhKt. 💬 “Our findings have important implications for patients with drug-resistant epilepsy,” says Gary Hubbard, Head of Clinical Research & Strategic Evidence at Danone Research & Innovation. Gary refers to a study recently published in Epilepsia Open, that tested the effects of incorporating ready-to-use vanilla flavor ‘KetoCal 2.5:1 LQ’ into patients’ medically prescribed ketogenic diets. The findings support the use of a 2.5:1 ratio, nutritionally complete, medium chain triglyceride (MCT)-containing liquid feed as an addition to the ketogenic diet for patients with drug-resistant epilepsy.
