Industrial solutions to carbon dioxide emissions

À propos

Dioxycle is pioneering breakthrough carbon utilization technologies that convert industrial emissions into sustainable chemicals with unprecedented energy and cost efficiency. By displacing fossil fuels for the production of key chemicals, Dioxycle has the potential to ultimately reduce over 800 million tons of CO2 per year, representing over 1% of the world's emissions. At Dioxycle, we believe that profitability is essential to trigger adoption of decarbonization technologies at the scale and speed required to reach our net-zero goals. With this in mind, our team is innovating across chemical, mechanical and system engineering to turn carbon transformation into an economically feasible, industrial reality. Having completed our medium-scale Proof-of-Concept carbon monoxide electrolyzer, we are now working towards a first-of-its-kind large-scale industrial prototype and are assembling key partnerships for future commercial roll-out. We are supported by world-class funders including Lowercarbon Capital, Breakthrough Energy Ventures, Gigascale Capital and operate from two R&D centers in Europe and California. Our co-founder and CEO, Sarah Lamaison, PhD, had the honor of delivering a talk at the Closing Plenary of the Breakthrough Energy Summit in London a few months back. In this talk, Sarah dives deep into the often overlooked but crucial ethylene industry—a $200B market that plays a vital role in everything from plastics to consumer goods and automotive parts. Currently, ethylene is built by breaking down fossil fuels, contributing over 800M tons of CO2 annually. Dioxycle is changing the game by using renewable electricity to build ethylene from recycled carbon emissions, potentially abating over 1% of global emissions. Sarah also shares her journey of building Dioxycle alongside David Wakerley, PhD, and how the support from Breakthrough Energy has been instrumental in their progress. We were honored to have Sarah share our vision on such a prestigious stage. Watch her video below! #BESummit #ClimateTech #Sustainability #Innovation #WomenInChemical #WomenInClimate

French-American scale-up Dioxycle, a 2024 World Economic Forum Technology Pioneer, is developing technology to produce sustainable #ethylene from #carbonemissions, at equal or lower costs to fossil equivalents. The technology can be retrofitted onto existing manufacturing plants, capturing the carbon emitted during the industrial process and transforming it into green ethylene that can be used to make new products, making factories both more sustainable and circular. “Our enabling technology can help existing industry to reinvent their processes,” says co-founder Sarah Lamaison, PhD. The company has initiated a piloting program to give manufacturers early access to the technology. It has already signed letters of intent and memorandums of understanding with companies in a range of sectors, including carbon-intensive manufacturing sectors, consumer brands, and the chemical industry, she says. https://lnkd.in/gw-M9fr6

Co-founder & CEO, Dioxycle | Breakthrough Energy Fellow | L'Oreal-UNESCO For Women in Science Young Talent | 30U30

It was great to spend some time with Mike Schroepfer (Gigascale Capital), Manik Suri (GlacierGrid) and Harry McCracken (Fast Company) and bring the climate topic on Collision Conference center stage. I was in particular excited to highlight how 1) energy efficiency and 2) scalability (in particular through modularity) are paramount criteria in energy transition technologies. With the available renewable power expected to remain a bottleneck in the next decade as electrification (and computing power requirements) intensify, Dioxycle is set to develop the most energy-efficient route to make ethylene from recycled carbon with the ultimate potential to displace over 1% of the world's CO2 emission. Our modular approach of building cells that assemble into stacks, which can in turn be parallelized, also sets us on track for ultra-high CapEx reduction over time. By building 1,000 of a single unit, we gain 1,000 times more opportunities to learn and improve, rather than constructing a single plant that is 1,000 times larger and we've seen the benefit of this approach through the solar revolution.
