#Europan #E17 Special Mention in Métropole Rouen Normandie (FR) -- MARGINALE - "Il n'y a de vi[ll]e que dans la marge" -- by AS: Renaud Molines (FR), Charlotte Pierson (FR) – architects urbanists "The main issue of our project is to consider the “Margins” in the Seine Valley territory as flexible spaces brimming with potential to adapt the city to the multiple consequences of global warming. By inducing users and makers of the city to look at the margins as spaces to preserve and to collaborate within, our proposition aims to initiate a radical yet pragmatic change of practice, capable of federating multiple players." #europan17 #livingcities2 #architecturecompetition #urbanplanning #urbanism #landscape #competition #architecturaldrawings #archilovers #axonometrics #rouen #france

#Europan #E17 Special Mention in Kenniswarter (NL) -- An Unexpected Neighbor -- by AS: Italo de Vroom (NL), Martijn Dahrs (NL), Nick Boer (NL) – architects "An Unexpected Guest fosters lifelong learning for everyone. Learning happens when interacting with other people and experiencing new things and therefore we propose to make the building as public as possible. Furthermore, our aim for this multifunctional building is to transcend the cliché of creating separate boxes to live, work and learn." #europan17 #livingcities2 #architecturecompetition #urbanplanning #urbanism #landscape #competition #architecturaldrawings #archilovers #axonometrics #kenniswartier #nederland

#Europan #E17 Special Mention in Vaasa (FI) -- FIELD OF CONNECTIONS -- by AS: Maria Amador (ES), Julio Sanchez (ES), Mario Montero (ES) – architects ""Field of Connections" diverges from conventional masterplans, opting for subtle, affordable molecular interventions. Implemented gradually, these interventions redefine the latent urban condition by introducing collective facilities, promoting densification, and enhancing void spaces. Balancing the need for a specific square meter building requirement, our project maximizes dwellings while minimizing impact on the landscape. The project's essence lies in preserving the natural environment." #europan17 #livingcities2 #architecturecompetition #urbanplanning #urbanism #landscape #competition #architecturaldrawings #archilovers #axonometrics #vaasa #suomifinland

#Europan #E17 Special Mention in Marseille (FR) -- L'Enfant, la Ville et le Ruisseau - The Child, the City and the Stream -- by AS: Marc-André Meyer (FR), Anaïs Parcheta (FR), Charlotte Vermeulen (FR) – architects, Thibault Carcano (FR), Loukia Peneau (FR) – urbanists, Mathilde Morize (FR) – landscaper, Julie Vincent (FR) – mobility expert "The "Living City" brings to mind an urban production that is no longer synonymous with fractures but with cohesion between the human and non-human entities that form the territorial ecosystem. In order to highlight the richness of the relationships that precede our intervention, we have based our thinking on the already-existing: equipment, cultural, social and economic systems. The figure of the child, at the center of our discourse, embodies the hope we pin on the already-existing. The child represents both the vitality of the city - life finds a way, as Dr Ian Malcolm would say - and the vulnerability to which he is exposed. Children are the keystone that guarantees the balance of the area. As such, the attention and care they receive extends to all the entities with which they coexist." #europan17 #livingcities2 #architecturecompetition #urbanplanning #urbanism #landscape #competition #architecturaldrawings #archilovers #axonometrics #marseille #france

#Europan #E17 Special Mention in Barcelona (ES) -- The Inhabited Garden -- by AS: Trung Mai (FR) – architect urbanist CO: Ylan Vo (US) – landscape architect "El Besòs i El Maresme are situated on formerly agricultural land irrigated by channels connected to the River Besòs, and was eventually formed as a peripheral area outside of the traditional city. While this area faces challenges in integrating socially and urbanistically, its low-lying site is also prone to flooding and other environmental problems. This project transforms challenging and underused land for new agricultural programs, and also daylights the former Horta stream along Rambla de Prim, recalling the neighborhood’s landscape heritage as the Bosquet de Sant Martí with its fields of crops, vineyards, and fruit trees fed by the Horta stream." #europan17 #livingcities2 #architecturecompetition #urbanplanning #urbanism #landscape #competition #architecturaldrawings #archilovers #axonometrics #barcelona #españa

#Europan #E17 Special Mention in Lochau (AT) -- Ferry Tales -- by AS: Angela Lulati (AT), Karina Baraniak (PL) – architects Contributors: Steven Mccloy (GB) – architect, Mina Gohary (GB) – designer "Treating our surroundings with care and compassion is a crucial aspect of architectural practice and should constitute the starting point of any intended design. Prioritising a sensitive approach is something that we were truly excited about since it is unfortunately often forgotten in established practices." #europan17 #livingcities2 #architecturecompetition #urbanplanning #urbanism #landscape #competition #architecturaldrawings #archilovers #axonometrics #lochau #österreich

#Europan #E17 Special Mention in Grensen (NO) -- The Gatehouse: The Open Border -- by AS: George Guida (IT), Tatjana Crossley (GB), Konrad Holtsmark (NO), Bongani Muchemwa (GB) – architects Contributors: Steven Mccloy (GB) – architect, Mina Gohary (GB) – designer "The Gatehouse creates a living lab that inhabits ‘the border’ of the university and community. It embodies ideas of transition and integration. Our proposal sees the site as a community hub that contributes to a melting pot of activities that care for the local community, the university population, and the character of place. The proposal uses ideas of integration, adaptive reuse, and the union of technology and tradition to produce spaces that foster innovation." #europan17 #livingcities2 #architecturecompetition #urbanplanning #urbanism #landscape #competition #architecturaldrawings #archilovers #axonometrics #grensen #norge

#Europan #E17 Special Mention in Regensburg (DE) -- DIE HOFSIEDLUNG -- by AS: Mattia Inselvini (IT), Marcello Carpino (IT), Federico Taverna (IT) – architects "‘Die Hofsiedlung’ suggests a sustainable and future-proof method to redevelop the modernist housing complex in Regensburg. The reconfiguration of the site's open spaces has an effect on buildings in need of transformation, introducing a new system of relationships between buildings and public space. Furthermore, each new layout defines simple typologies yet adaptable to a broader mix of residents." #europan17 #livingcities2 #architecturecompetition #urbanplanning #urbanism #landscape #competition #architecturaldrawings #archilovers #axonometrics #regensburg #deutschland
