[Cement & Minerals] – Fives’ expertise in decarbonization 🌱   Loïc POTTIER, Area Sales Manager, spoke during the EnviroTech in Athens on March 12 to discuss our technologies about CO2 abatement, specifically:   ▪️ FCB Rhodax® technology for concrete recycling, recovering all three fractions with the same quality as the original material. Pilot-scale tests are required to confirm its properties and ensure optimal performance. After the flash calcination process, clay becomes a supplementary reactive cementitious material (SCM) essential in the decarbonization strategies of the cement and construction industries. 🌍   🔑 Our paper explores the critical parameters of calcination after comparing two calcination technologies: the flash calciner and the rotary kiln, highlighting their respective performances. Tests confirm the superiority of the flash calciner in terms of clay reactivity, with increased energy efficiency and better overall performance.   📊 The optimization of clay calcination relies on a balance between temperature, particle size distribution and residence time. Where necessary, the systems also include an appropriate drying stage to cope with raw material moisture.   • Production of low-carbon substitutes: our comprehensive FCB Rhodax® solution enables demolition concrete to be recycled and recovered. Selective crushing separates fine product and recovers all concrete fractions, which can then be reused to produce new concrete, low-carbon cement or low-carbon clinker.   • Setting up clinker lines for carbon capture: whether for new plants or complex retrofits, we offer gradual configurations to adapt clinker production lines to carbon capture, as part of a reversible installation. [𝗦𝘂𝗴𝗮𝗿] 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗹𝘆 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝘄𝗼 𝗻𝗲𝘄 𝗙𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗙𝗶𝗹𝗺 𝗘𝘃𝗮𝗽𝗼𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗭𝗮𝗺𝗯𝗶𝗮 🇿🇲 Last week, the erection of the two 5,000 m² falling film evaporators supplied by Fives FCB started at Zambia Sugar factory located in Nakambala (Zambia).
