Almine Rech New York,Tribeca, is pleased to announce ‘Undertow,’ Matthew Schreiber's first solo exhibition with the gallery. The show will be on view from November 8 to December 14, 2024. "For the past thirty years, Matthew Schreiber has been making art with lasers and holography—technologies that were described at the time of their invention as mediums of the future. Although the theory of holography was first proposed in 1947, it wasn’t until 1962, with the development of laser technology, that holograms became a reality. Artistic experimentation quickly followed. Artists were drawn to holography for its spatial, volumetric, and sequential qualities—the display of three-dimensional images on a two-dimensional surface." — Jenny Moore, writer, curator, and Director of Tinworks Art • Matthew Schreiber ‘Orders of Light.008,’ 2024 Transmission hologram within polished glass and silver. Almine Rech opened its doors on April 1st, 1997 in the 13th arrondissement in Paris. The gallery was founded on an axis of California Minimal, Perceptual art and Conceptual art, representing artists such as James Turrell, John McCracken and Joseph Kosuth. In addition to its stable of internationally recognized, mid-career and emerging artists, it has always been the gallery's mission to continually seek out and include new artists in its program, opening especially to painters. The gallery has held longstanding relationships with artists like John McCracken and James Turrell and has since started working with and representing artists such as Alex Israel and De Wain Valentine, Jeff Koons and the painters Antoni Tàpies, Karel Appel, Nathaniel Mary Quinn, Vaughn Spann, and Claire Tabouret, among others. In 2006 the gallery moved to a larger two-floor space in the Marais district and in 2008 inaugurated a second 1,000 square meter exhibition space in Brussels. In March 2013, Almine Rech launched its new Paris space at 64 rue de Turenne. In June 2014, Almine Rech opened a gallery in London on Savile Row, Mayfair. In October 2016, the gallery moved from Savile Row to a larger space on Grosvenor Hill, Mayfair. The 400 square meter gallery opened with a solo exhibition by Jeff Koons. Almine Rech also opened in Manhattan’s Upper East Side — the gallery's first exhibition space in the US — at the end of October, 2016. The New York gallery's inaugurating exhibition was 'Calder and Picasso’. In 2019, Almine Rech inaugurated its new Shanghai space. The gallery opened at 27 Huqiu Road on July 12, 2019 with a group show titled 'Approaches to Abstraction’ featuring a selection of artists from the gallery’s roster, including John M Armleder, Sylvie Fleury, and Günther Förg. In January 2021, Almine Rech opened a second space in Paris, avenue Matignon in the 8th district, with a solo show by iconic US artist Kenny Scharf.

Last days to visit “Reverse Paintings,” Zio Ziegler’s second solo exhibition with the gallery. The show is on view at Almine Rech Brussels, until October 31, 2024. "From ink-on-paper illustrations over paintings and murals to sculptures and installations, his approach keeps modifying as he searches for the right image worth making. The new loose, figurative paintings stem directly from controlled, flat surface Mandala-like compositions that at some point got interrupted with gestures. These gestures were introduced to show that the intention and the process were two different things while allowing the depiction of two sides of the narrative in one image." – Saša Bogojev, writer and curator 🔎 Know more: https://lnkd.in/eaRbrTtY 📷 Hugard and Vanoverschelde #ReversePaintings #ZioZiegler #AlmineRechBrussels #Brussels #AlmineRech

Visit “Glances and Echoes,” En Iwamura's first solo exhibition with the gallery, on view until December 28, 2024 at Almine Rech Shanghai. • About his first solo exhibition at Almine Rech Shanghai, Iwamura notes, “I’m always very excited to be able to show my work for the first time in new countries and regions. Because I’m very interested in culture in all its diversity, I’m sincerely interested, too, in how my work will be received wherever it may be shown.” With the gallery’s first-ever presentation of Iwamura’s work in China, this innovative creator representing the latest pioneering developments in one of his country’s most ancient crafts will have a high-profile opportunity to expand the reach of the deeply humanistic, resonant message of his magical art. — Edward M. For this edition of West Bund Art & Design, Almine Rech is pleased to present significant works by the renowned 20th-century American artist Tom Wesselmann (1931-2004). A pivotal figure in the American Pop Art movement of the 1960s, Wesselmann set aside abstract expressionism to embrace classical representations. His art, particularly in nudes, still lifes, and landscapes, carved out a unique niche with its integration of collage elements and assemblages. In addition to Tom Wesselman’s works, our booth will also feature a dynamic group presentation, including works by Farah Atassi, John Giorno, Peter Halley, Alex Israel, Allen Jones, Jeff Koons, Richard Prince, Li Qing, Kenny Scharf, Keiichi Tanaami and Hajime Sorayama. Each artist offers a unique perspective and distinctive formal language, pushing the boundaries of modern and contemporary art. • West Bund Art & Design Booth A109 November 7 - 10, 2024 West Bund Art Center No. 2555 Longteng Avenue 200232 Shanghai, China Works by Tom Wesselmann, John Giorno, Kenny Scharf, Allen Jones and Jeff Koons / ©️ 2024 Estate of Tom Wesselmann / Artists Rights Society (ARS), New York / ©️ Giorno Poetry Systems / ©️ Kenny Scharf / ©️ Allen Jones / ©️ Jeff Koons - Courtesy of the Estate, GPS, the Artists and Almine Rech - Photos: Nicolas Brasseur, Alessandro Wang, Kitmin Lee • #WestBund #WestBundArtDesign #TomWesselmann #JohnGiorno #KennyScharf #AllenJones #JeffKoons #AlmineRech

Almine Rech is pleased to announce that Carlos Jacanamijoy's artworks ‘Al comenzar el día’ and ‘El amarillo antes del mediodía,’ from 2024, are now part of the collection of The National Museum of Colombia, Bogotá. The work has been acquired through the Ministry of Culture of Colombia. • To define Jacanamijoy’s paintings is to construct the genealogy of a signature cosmology which is the outcome of intercultural fusion between his ancestors’ traditions and his Western artistic baggage. The artist adheres to the principles of abstract Expressionism and autonomy of colour - a posit defined by Paul Gauguin - and, on his canvases, he proposes a journey through the purity of his colours.Vibrant blues, yellows and reds that immerse us in a world of wild and altering environments that envelope and transport us to the forests of Colombia. • ‘El amarillo antes del mediodía,’ 2024 Oil on canvas 170 x 140 cm 66 15/16 x 55 1/8 in ‘Al comenzar el día,’ 2024 Oil on canvas 170 x 140 cm 66 15/16 x 55 1/8 in © Courtesy of the Artist and Almine Rech • #CarlosJacanamijoy #NationalMuseumofColombia #Bogotá #AlmineRech

Discover “Unearthly Pursuits,” Genieve Figgis' exhibition at Palazzo Cavanis in Venice, curated by Elisa De Wyngaert. The works evoke the allure of the city, where visitors come to enact a romanticized version of history they were never actually part of. Experience the show until December 1, 2024. • Figgis trusts paint to run unpredictably over the canvas, allowing an unconscious and rebellious process to occur. She embraces deformations, fluidity, and innocence, the exciting thrill of possible failure. As her figures are rendered freely in paint, she sets them free, revealing their unrestrained, unconventional and fantastical nature. — Elisa De Wyngaert, Curator at MoMu Fashion Museum Antwerp. • Video by The Factory Prd All rights reserved Courtesy of the artist and Almine Rech • #UnearthlyPursuits #GenieveFiggis #PalazzoCavanis #Venice #AlmineRech

Don’t miss César’s “Pouce” at Palais Royal as part of Art Basel Paris' Hors les Murs program, on view until this Saturday, October 26, 2024. On the occasion of the release of a new book on César, a selection of works is now presented in the exhibition “César, at First Glance” at Almine Rech Paris, Turenne (Front Space) from October 12 to December 5, 2024. • César was a key figure of the Nouveau Réalisme movement, which recontextualized everyday objects as art. Known for his compression of metal objects such as cars, he began experimenting with plastic and resin in the 1960s, leading to “Pouce”, a series based on his own thumb. The series started with a 40-centimetre thumb cast in plastic, meticulously capturing every detail. César went on to recreate it in various sizes and materials, including polyester, crystal, and—in this case—bronze. • Installation views of César’s “Pouce” at Palais Royal, on view from October 16 to 26, 2024 Photos: Nicolas Brasseur • #César #PalaisRoyal #AlmineRech #ArtBaselParis2024 #ArtBasel #HorslesMurs

Almine Rech is pleased to participate in this year's The Art Show, New York, taking place at Park Avenue Armory from October 29 to November 2, 2024. On the occasion of the fair, Almine Rech will showcase a rare selection of bon à tirer engravings by Pablo Picasso. These etchings are each unique works annotated by hand, by the artist, and signed "Bon à Tirer." They were created while working with the renowned Crommelynck printers. This exhibition offers significant insight into Picasso's mastery of the printmaking medium. • Picasso began making engravings in 1899 when he was 18 years old.… Between 1960 and 1971, the artist continued to produce engravings using copper plates. The 'Bon à Tirer' is the test print chosen by the artist from four tests directly from the engraved copper plate. It is the single, valid print which the entire numbered printing is based on and which took place after acierage. — François Bellet, conservator at the Fundación Almine y Bernard Ruiz Picasso Roquebrune, September 2023 • Pablo Picasso ‘Bande dessinée,’ March 29, 1968 Signed lower right Bon à tirer Press proof Eau-forte sur cuivre Etching on copper 66 x 53.8 x 4 cm 26 x 21 1/8 x 1 5/8 in ‘Femme à la fleur sur un transat,’ August 14, 1968 Signed lower right Bon à tirer Press proof Eau-forte sur cuivre Etching on copper 38.6 x 53.1 x 4 cm 15 1/4 x 20 7/8 x 1 5/8 in ‘Peintre barbu en robe de chambre, avec deux femmes nues et un visiteur,’ August 2, 1968 Signed lower right Bon à tirer Press proof Sugar aquatint on greased copperplate Aquatinte au sucre sur cuivre graissé Dated 02.08.1968 36 x 46 x 4 cm 14 1/8 x 18 1/8 x 1 5/8 in Works by Pablo Picasso / © 2024 Estate of Pablo Picasso / Artists Rights Society (ARS), New York Photos: Annik Wetter • The Art Show Booth A1 October 29 — November 2, 2024 Park Avenue Armory 643 Park Avenue New York, NY 10065 • #TheArtShowNewYork #TheArtShow #PabloPicasso #NewYork #AlmineRech

“Triumph of the Limp,” an exhibition by Ali Cherri, is now on display at Musée Delacroix as part of the Hors les Murs program during Art Basel Paris. The museum is presenting two works by the artist, in a dialogue between his own work and the paintings of Eugène Delacroix. Visit the exhibition until October 28, 2024! • Ali Cherri presents a body of works that examines how histories of trauma can be explored through a response to museum and gallery collections. For this project he presents two cabinets of curiosity at the heart of Musée Delacroix, containing assembled fragments that could resemble relics from another collection. In his layered films and installations, Cherri investigates how violence and displacement shape collective memory. Particularly interested in the politics of archaeological practices, he critiques the oft-invisible influence of nationalist and colonial agendas on the circulation, interpretation, and display of art and artifacts. • Installation views of Ali Cherri’s “Triumph of the Limp” at Musée Delacroix, on view from October 16 to 28, 2024 Photos: Nicolas Brasseur • #AliCherri #MuséeDelacroix #Delacroix #TriumphoftheLimp #AlmineRech #ArtBaselParis #Horslesmurs #Paris
