Last week, GIIGNL - International Group of LNG Importers hosted an exclusive members-only webinar, "LNG Markets – 2024 Lookback", featuring our General Delegate, Laurent David, and LNG Analyst, Qi Yang. They provided an analysis of key LNG market trends in 2024, based on preliminary data. Here are the key Takeaways from 2024: ✅ As a result of divergent regional trends, global LNG trade has remained nearly flat compared to 2023. ✅ Asia continues to see LNG demand growth, driven by China and India, where rising industrial gas consumption fuels the expansion. ✅ Meanwhile, European LNG imports declined, reflecting persistently low industrial gas demand and a power sector where gas-fired generation is being squeezed between stable electricity consumption and rising output from renewables and nuclear sources. ✅ With sustained production growth, the U.S. maintained its role as a key LNG supplier to Europe, while Egypt and Algeria saw a decline in their contributions to the global LNG market compared to 2023. ✅ Although at a slower pace than in 2023, regasification capacity continued to expand, particularly in Asia and the Americas. Meanwhile, liquefaction capacity saw modest gains, driven by the Tango project in the Republic of Congo, the Altamira project in Mexico, and debottlenecking efforts at Freeport in the U.S. and Ichthys in Australia. ✅Looking ahead, regasification capacity is expected to continue expanding, peaking in 2025, while liquefaction capacity growth is projected to reach its peak in 2027. If you're a GIIGNL member who missed the webinar, you can access the full recording and presentation on our website. www.giignl.org #LNGmarket2024 #WebinarRecap #GIIGNL #Marketlookback

We are happy to share the successful conclusion of the 2024 GIIGNL - International Group of LNG Importers General Assembly held in Hiroshima from 6th-8th October. This event gathered near 200 people representing about 80 organizations from #Asia, #Europe and the #Americas. We shared updates on the #LNGindustry and discussed the pivotal role LNG play, and will play, in ensuring energy security and sustainability in global energy mixes. One of the highlights was the press conference where the #HiroshimaDeclaration was unveiled in the presence of Mr. Yoshifumi Murase, Commissioner, Agency for Natural Resources and Energy, Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry(METI) and Mr. Keisuke Sadamori, Director, Energy Markets and Security Directorate, International Energy Agency (IEA). This declaration, presented to the press by Mr. Jean ABITEBOUL (President of GIIGNL) and Mr. Takashi Uchida (Director, Chairperson of the Board at Tokyo Gas and Vice-President Asia of GIIGNL) calls for the understanding and cooperation of governments, related institutions, companies, and organizations to allow the key contribution of LNG in maintaining a secured and low-carbon global energy system. The day before the GIIGNL General Assembly, the LNG Producer-Consumer Conference (LNG-PCC) held by METI focused on public-private collaboration to decarbonize the LNG industry and explore financing mechanisms for a sustainable energy transition. During this event, METI and GIIGNL announced that they will cooperate on the joint development of a #MRV framework for #GHG emissions from the LNG value chain. A heartfelt thank you to #TokyoGas and #HiroshimaGas for their exceptional hospitality in hosting this landmark event in Hiroshima, the City of Peace. We extend our gratitude to all GIIGNL members for their participation, which contributed to the great success of this year’s General Assembly. Cheniere Energy, Inc.
