Professeure à la Harvard Business School, fondatrice de l’initiative Social Innovation + Change Initiative at Harvard Kennedy School, Julie est une voix pionnière de l'innovation sociale et du changement. Ces histoires, profondément ancrées dans nos sociétés, mêlent raison et émotion pour consolider les hiérarchies existantes. 🔸 Conditions du changement : ◼️ Les grandes transformations surviennent souvent après des crises (catastrophes naturelles, guerres, crises économiques, innovations technologiques). ◼️ La solidité d’une hiérarchie de pouvoir dépend de son enracinement ; plus une hiérarchie est récente, plus elle est vulnérable. ◼️ Pour défier l’ordre établi, les acteurs du changement doivent offrir une vision alternative du partage du pouvoir. 🔴 Trois actions pour un impact concret : Agiter, Innover, Orchestrer : ◼️ 𝐋𝐞𝐬 𝐚𝐠𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐮𝐫𝐬 mettent en lumière les failles du système et mobilisent l’opinion publique. ◼️ 𝐋𝐞𝐬 𝐢𝐧𝐧𝐨𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐮𝐫𝐬 conçoivent des solutions concrètes pour répondre aux doléances identifiés par les agitateurs. ◼️𝐋𝐞𝐬 𝐨𝐫𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐮𝐫𝐬 assurent la mise en œuvre des solutions à grande échelle. 🔎 Ensemble, nous pouvons redessiner les hiérarchies de pouvoir. The Sustainability & Organizations Institute is an interdisciplinary Institute at HEC Paris Business School that brings together over 60 researchers and professors. Together, we carry out research, teach and implement ideas to organize and lead our responses to the daunting challenges of our time. These contemporary challenges include climatic constraints, social inequality, loss of purpose, technological disruption, epidemics, social contestation, ethical imperatives, and liberalization and regulation. The S&O Institute with its three centers: Purposeful Leadership, Inclusive & Social Business and Climate & Earth, addresses key challenges following the THINK, TEACH, ACT approach. Its mission statement is to contribute to our understanding of contemporary challenges, support anyone with a role to play in ecological and social transition, and prepare future generations of managers to lead in these complicated times. 🌍 Transformer l'économie pour l'Anthropocène : 7 leçons fondamentales pour les étudiants d'aujourd'hui et les leaders de demain 🌱 Le 29 août dernier, François Gemenne, professeur à HEC Paris et auteur principal du 6ème rapport du #GIEC, introduisait le cours obligatoire « Les Enjeux Planétaires » pour les 400 nouveaux étudiants de la Grande Ecole. Son objectif ? Confronter la prochaine génération de dirigeants aux défis critiques de notre temps : 𝐫𝐞́𝐢𝐧𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐥’𝐞́𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐨𝐦𝐢𝐞 𝐝𝐚𝐧𝐬 𝐮𝐧 𝐦𝐨𝐧𝐝𝐞 𝐞𝐧 𝐩𝐥𝐞𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐞́𝐜𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐢𝐪𝐮𝐞. 🎥 Nous avons capté son intervention pour vous : https://lnkd.in/eVy985rm 💡 L’Anthropocène : Gemenne appelle à repousser les limites du capitalisme actuel, en passant d’une économie linéaire à une économie régénérative, capable de fonctionner en harmonie avec la nature, plutôt que de la détruire. 🔄 Une transformation radicale, pas seulement des ajustements : les crises climatiques, la perte de biodiversité et les inégalités sociales appellent une révision en profondeur des systèmes économiques. Il ne suffit plus d'ajuster les modèles existants – il s'agit de saisir cette transformation comme une opportunité pour bâtir une économie plus inclusive, résiliente et régénérative. 🏢 Le rôle central des entreprises : il insiste sur la nécessité de dépasser une vision superficielle de la RSE. Les entreprises doivent repenser leur raison d’être, intégrant pleinement les enjeux environnementaux et sociaux dans leur stratégie. Cela implique de transformer les chaînes de valeur, les relations avec les parties prenantes et les modèles économiques eux-mêmes. Les dirigeants de demain devront non seulement viser la rentabilité, mais aussi être les gardiens de la durabilité et de l’équité. 🌍 Migrations et climat : il invite à voir les migrations non comme une menace, mais comme un levier de dynamisme et d'innovation économique. Avec la montée des impacts écologiques, des politiques migratoires intelligentes et inclusives permettront aux économies de prospérer tout en soutenant les populations déplacées. ⚖️ Justice climatique : Les populations les plus vulnérables sont souvent les moins responsables des émissions de CO2, mais elles en subissent les conséquences les plus graves. 🌟 Congratulations to Hélène Löning for Her Leadership in Environmental and Sustainable Accounting – 2024 Vernimmen Award Winner! 🌟 We are thrilled to celebrate Hélène Löning, who has been honored with the 2024 Vernimmen Award in recognition of her excellence in teaching, particularly in environmental and sustainable finance. Known for her pivotal shift towards sustainability accounting, Hélène has made an outstanding impact on both her students and colleagues at HEC Paris. Hélène’s innovative approach exemplifies this, inspiring the next generation of leaders to think critically and act boldly in the face of global sustainability challenges. 𝐄𝐱𝐩𝐥𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐄𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐁𝐞𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐢𝐨𝐫 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐂𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐚𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐒&𝐎 𝐈𝐧𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐭𝐮𝐭𝐞 𝐋𝐮𝐧𝐜𝐡 𝐒𝐞𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐫 𝑈𝑛𝑑𝑒𝑟 𝑤ℎ𝑎𝑡 𝑐𝑜𝑛𝑑𝑖𝑡𝑖𝑜𝑛𝑠 𝑑𝑜 𝑝𝑒𝑜𝑝𝑙𝑒 𝑎𝑐𝑡 𝑒𝑡ℎ𝑖𝑐𝑎𝑙𝑙𝑦 𝑖𝑛 𝑚𝑎𝑟𝑘𝑒𝑡 𝑐𝑜𝑛𝑡𝑒𝑥𝑡𝑠? 🤔 This was the question asked by Roberto Weber from the University of Zurich as he opened the S&O Institute Lunch Seminar this past Tuesday, October 8, 2024 at HEC Paris. Roberto presented his recent work on “𝐒𝐞𝐥𝐟-𝐠𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐞𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐛𝐞𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐢𝐨𝐫 𝐢𝐧 𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐤𝐞𝐭𝐬” exploring how ethical behavior in the workplace can lead to significant societal impacts and how negative effects can be mitigated. The research highlights the central role of intermediary actors in corporate misconduct. Under competitive pressure, these intermediaries tend to act in ways that may harm society but benefit the principals they work for. Through an experimental market context, the research findings showed that giving agents the chance to self-govern and to introduce even an unenforced code of conduct, improved ethical behavior and reduced harmful outcomes. On the other hand, delegating decisions without any code of conduct led to the worst societal outcomes. 🔑 𝐓𝐚𝐤𝐞𝐚𝐰𝐚𝐲: Self-governance plays a crucial role in limiting unethical behavior and promoting ethical practices in markets. In the second part of the seminar, Aluna Wang from HEC Paris, presented her work on “𝐄𝐱𝐩𝐥𝐨𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐯𝐬. 𝐄𝐱𝐩𝐥𝐨𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧: 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐈𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐜𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐞𝐫𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐂𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐨𝐧 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐂𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧”. 📱 The research investigates how commercial collaborations affect influencers’ content strategies on social media platforms and how such collaborations might degrade content quality, reduce diversity, and potentially influence societal values. By studying 1,529 influencers on the Chinese platform Zhihu, the research found that after entering commercial partnerships, influencers often stick to existing content themes rather than exploring new ideas. This leads to less diversity in the content on the platform. 🔑𝐓𝐚𝐤𝐞𝐚𝐰𝐚𝐲: When influencers are financially compensated, they are more likely to stick to familiar content. 🌍 How are future business leaders being educated on the challenges of business and human rights?
