Founded in September 2014, ISCHAL is an association governed by the French law of July 1, 1901. The purpose of ISCHAL is to establish an international network of researchers and professionals in the field of art and cultural heritage. In particular, it aims to develop research in comparative law, international law and European law in heritage law and art law while strengthening the dialogue between lawyers and professionals working on these issues. The founding members of ISCHAL have been working together since 2006 within the international research group of cultural heritage and law created by the French CNRS in order to develop international relations in the field of cultural heritage law and art law through of a number of comparative research projects, scientific meetings, seminars and publications, including the Comparative Dictionary of Cultural Heritage Law. The associaton is governed by a board of directors, which is seconded by a scientific council. The scientific council is consulted on the scientific policy of the association, the themes and research programs, partnerships and publications of the association.
