The decarbonization challenge in the sector is mainly based on the massive use of SAF (Sustainable Aviation fuel) reducing CO2 emissions by an average of 80%. But other alternatives are being developed: ✅ Co-processing: Introduce a bio-based feedstock in addition to the usual fossil feedstock to obtain a sustainable aviation fuel. ✅ E-fuel: Synthetic fuels produced from hydrogen, ideally from renewable electricity and CO2. ADP is launching a contest to imagine the outline of the airport of the future! “Accelerating the creation of the airport and mobility of the future” is the objective of the first “Airport Innovation days”, an international competition open to startups from three countries: France, Turkey and Jordan. The 2024 edition of “Airport Innovation days” will reward startups in four categories: ▪️ Green Airport for startups offering decarbonization solutions for airport activities; ▪️ Passenger experience for startups aiming at the improvement of the passenger experience in terminals; ▪️ Airport operations for startups allowing optimal and efficient management of airport facilities; ▪️ Open category for startups offering an original innovation to enrich the experience and attractiveness of airports. The solutions will be rewarded in three regional finals to be held on October 25th in Ankara, November 6th in Amman, and December 4th 2024 in Paris. According to a study by the Direction Generale de l'Aviation Civile, in 2023, the 11,296 respondents classified the reasons for not checking in baggage as follows: 1️⃣ 63%: No need 2️⃣ 28%: Prices too high 3️⃣ 21%: To save time 4️⃣ 5%: Fear of losing it The real question is whether we could combine the first three answers: Has the ever increasing cost for checked-in baggage led to a new way of traveling that cuts out the need for checked-in baggage and saves time?
