This is an extraordinary humanitarian worker resource list from Claire Barnhoorn the CEO at Solvoz. Please share liberally.
🌍 as a Humanitarian, #WorldHumanitarianDay holds a special place in my heart. A few years ago, I began sharing a simple list of online courses tailored for humanitarians on this day. Little did I know, this small act would evolve into something much bigger—an ever-growing collection of online, resources that now spans numerous sub-lists, each dedicated to equipping (aspiring or seasoned) humanitarians with skills and knowledge. And the best part? They’re all #free and available online. This year, I’m excited to share that I’ve refreshed the original list (among others with courses of Geneva Centre of Humanitarian Studies and EPFL, as well as courses longer around from Deakin University, Erasmus University Rotterdam, Coventry University and Harvard University) and added many new courses across various humanitarian topics. Whether you're just starting out in this field or looking to deepen your expertise, there’s something here for everyone! Please share to those in your network and let me know what courses I'm still missing, so we can jointly expand on those free online learning resources for #humanitarians! 🔗 https://lnkd.in/e4KVTs8f #HumanitarianAid #LifelongLearning #FreeCourses #OnlineLearning

Our ability to predict crises continues to evolve, and this post from United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR) is essential for municipalities in #wildfire prone regions to be aware of. While it's important to reduce risk, it's also essential to be prepared, and we maintain that community driven, contemporary lists of needs and resources are essential to gather well before wild fire season kicks off. #beprepared
🔥One year ago, wildfires devastated Maui, Hawaii, taking more than 100 lives, causing economic damages estimated at US$5.5 billion. Wildfires are surging in frequency and intensity, posing new threats to ecosystems, communities and economies around the globe. The climate crisis is escalating wildfire risks, compounded by urban expansion into fire-prone areas. 🚒👩🚒 But there are new tools and technologies that can assist in tackling wildfire risks – from smart satellite image analysis and more accurate risk mapping, to mobile doppler radars that can give a 3D view inside the inferno and mobile phone signal triangulation to monitor evacuation behaviour. Here are 8️⃣ examples of blazing new solutions to reduce and manage wildfire risks ➡️ https://ow.ly/BVEk50SMiou

Solvoz is doing extraordinary work to streamline and accelerate Humanitarian procurement and logistics, and this new initiative - the GRP Alliance - that focuses on #genderequality in #procurement for #NGOs, is yet another example of how they are leading the way. We're grateful to Solvoz and SheSupplies for this work.
🤷♀️ 𝗩𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝗳𝗲𝘄 𝗹𝗮𝗿𝗴𝗲 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗡𝗚𝗢𝘀 𝘀𝘆𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿-𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 (𝗚𝗥𝗣)! This gap represents a significant opportunity for change. At SheSupplies, we are dedicated to addressing this through our initiatives and partnerships. Together, we can support large international NGOs (#INGOs) by adding a gender lens to their procurement and increasing their impact on #SDG5 (#GenderEquality). Meet the GRP Alliance, co-launched with Solvoz. This alliance is all about bringing together like-minded organizations to advance #GRP and ensure that procurement processes are fair and inclusive. 👉 GRPAlliance.org ✨ ═══════════════════════ Gender equality can’t wait - SheSupplies.org ✨ #GRPAlliance #Solvoz #Procurement #GenderResponsive #SupplyChain #WOB #WomenEmpowerment #Equality #Inclusion #GSP

🌀 As we watch tropical storm Debby wreak havoc over the SE United States, we are reminded that after the initial response to a disaster, the long term recovery, as well as regaining and enhancing community resilience, will take years. ~ Our thoughts are with the inhabitants and responders in the region. ❤️ https://lnkd.in/gbQA4Z74

Delighted to read this article by Natasha Freidus & Amanda Levinson on Armillaria’s acquisition of NeedsList, and the need for better mechanisms for purpose driven founders to find an exit. I’ve watched too many wonderful ventures just shut down due to lack of options, and am grateful we were trusted to carry their mission forward.
As the Founders of NeedsList shared their news with networks, they were struck by the number of impact founders asking us for advice and to share the journey of selling with purpose. With so few resources and case studies available to impact entrepreneurs, Amanda Levinson and Natasha Freidus hope that their story can shed some light on what was learned. We believe that anything that improves the delivery of urgently needed supplies into crisis zones is a good thing. The critical issue is ensuring that there is a match between community needs, and the goods being provided - which continues to be a significant issue in HADR the world over. It's great to see Amazon partnering with the BINGOs (Big NGOs) in this sector, but the real test is going to be if they can scale down to achieve the targeted supply of critical items, not just the 80-90% that are typically addressed by the bigger players. Amazon is a warehousing, transport and logistics powerhouse, and as long as they continue to show up in service, rather than as the industry devouring behemoth they've been in every other sector, this move can be extraordinarily beneficial. So, to paraphrase Robert Reich, "we're nauseously optimistic".
For seven years, Amazon and Save the Children have been supporting children and their families facing disasters worldwide. The opening of their first Disaster Relief Hub in Europe will enable organizations like ours to provide vital aid and resources to those impacted by storms, earthquakes, wildfires, floods, and other emergencies! https://bit.ly/3wS7KgF
