[ 💎 Support Women in Entrepreneurship ] At Newfund, promoting gender diversity is a priority. As a signatory of the SISTA charter and an Investor Ally, we continuously track our data to eliminate bias in our investment process. Despite their immense talent and potential, women founders are still underrepresented and receive disproportionately less funding than their male counterparts. Following last year’s Gender Diversity Report (link in comment) and in line with our commitment to foster diversity in the startup ecosystem, Newfund has developed in 2023 an action plan to promote female entrepreneurship and encourage women founders to seek funding from VCs. Our plan included prioritizing startups co-founded by women to have 25% of initial appointments dedicated to them, with the aim of increasing this percentage in the future. Here's what we've achieved so far: 📌 Startups co-founded by women represented 17% of the opportunities we received, up from 11% in 2022. 🤝 21% of our first meetings were with female founders, compared to 13% in 2022. While the percentage of investments in women-led startups has remained stable (13% in 2023, up from 12% in 2022), the increase in our dealflow shows the positive impact of our efforts. We remain dedicated to improving these numbers and reach our goal of having 25% of our first meetings with startups co-founded by women in 2024 while maintaining our rigorous standards for the quality of the dossiers we review.
