Today marks the 10th anniversary of the OECD - OCDE Academy for Tax and Financial Crime Investigation. The Academy supports global efforts to counter tax and other financial crimes by providing law enforcement authorities from developing countries with the core skills necessary to combat illicit financial flows, increase domestic resource mobilisation, and build greater trust and confidence in the fairness of tax systems. Over the last ten years, the Academy strengthened co-operation and capacity building in the fight against tax crimes. This anniversary provides an opportunity to celebrate the impactful work carried out by the Academy and its centres all over the world. 🔍 Discover more about the Academy and its mission ➡️ https://oe.cd/5JG   #OECDtax #OECD #tax #internationaltax #TaxCrime #TaxCrimeInvestigation #TaxTransparency #TrustinTax #IFFs #tax4dev #tax #crime #corruption #bribery #taxevasion #capacitybuilding #anticorruption Guardia di Finanza

Pleased to be in Ostia, celebrating the 10th anniversary of the OECD Academy for Tax and Financial Crime Investigation. Tax crime, corruption, money laundering, and terrorist financing threaten the strategic, political, and economic interests of all countries. Combatting these crimes requires transparency, robust legal frameworks, and strong co-operation between tax and law enforcement authorities – both domestically and internationally. The Academy equips authorities with the practical knowledge and tools needed for effective detection, investigation, and enforcement through its global network of training centres. Over the past decade, it has trained more than 3250 officials from over 170 jurisdictions, focusing on countering illicit financial flows. The OECD remains committed to strengthening the global fight against tax crime through ongoing training and capacity building with developing jurisdictions. 🔗 https://oe.cd/5JG

📢 [OUT NOW] Our latest working paper explores tax arbitrage incentives and behaviours across OECD countries. The paper delves into how certain tax systems might encourage business owners - especially those managing unincorporated businesses or closely held incorporated businesses - to minimise their tax burdens through tax arbitrage strategies.   📊 Key Insights: - Tax arbitrage can involve shifts between business forms, across types of income, and in the timing of income; - Incentives to engage in arbitrage have increased due to recent declines in corporate income tax (CIT) rates, as well as other factors; - Opportunities for tax arbitrage may have a significant impact on the effective progressivity of tax systems, and for potential tax revenue; - Various policies have been introduced to reduce tax arbitrage, including restricting discretion allocating earnings between capital and labour income or limiting the ability to retain earnings inside the corporation.   📥 Download the paper ➡️ https://oe.cd/il/WP70   #OECDtax #OECD #tax #taxarbitrage #taxpolicy #corporatetax #CIT #personalincometax #PIT #investment #capitalincome #labourincome #corporatetaxation #taxprogressivity #Taxation #inequality

[OUT NOW] Crypto-Asset Reporting Framework and amended Common Reporting Standard: OECD releases IT format for transmitting information between tax authorities and issues related interpretative guidance. We have published the XML Schemas and User Guides to support the transmission of information between tax authorities pursuant to the Crypto-Asset Reporting Framework (CARF) and the amended Common Reporting Standard (CRS). The two User Guides reflect the reporting requirements of the CARF and the amended CRS that were approved by the OECD in 2023 and subsequently endorsed by the G20 and the Global Forum on Transparency and Exchange of Information for Tax Purposes as international standards. First exchanges under both the CARF and the amended CRS are expected to commence in 2027. We have also published a first set of frequently asked questions (FAQs) to provide interpretative guidance on the CARF, aimed at ensuring consistency in its implementation. 🔍 Read more ➡️ https://oe.cd/5gf   #OECDtax #OECD #tax #XML #Schemas #XMLSchemas #UserGuides #CARF #FAQs #CRS #exchangeofinformation #TaxTransparency #TrustinTax

[OUT NOW] A trend towards decreased taxes on businesses and individuals during the pandemic and the subsequent inflationary period, is now showing signs of deceleration and reversal, according to the latest edition of Tax Policy Reforms.   The report describes tax reforms announced and enacted in 2023 across 90 countries and jurisdictions, including all OECD countries. It outlines the evolving tax policy landscape as governments strive to balance the need for additional domestic resources with measures to alleviate the cost-of-living crisis affecting households and businesses.   Particularly, the report highlights a shift from the tax-decreasing reforms introduced during the COVID-19 pandemic and the subsequent period of high inflation to more balanced approaches involving rate increases and base broadening initiatives, aimed at creating fiscal space to address long-term structural challenges, such as the ageing of the population, rising inequality and climate change.   🗞️ Read more ➡️ https://oe.cd/5Ha #TPR2024 #taxpolicy
