🌞 Last week, the Prelude team gathered for our 2nd annual offsite! We traded the gray skies of Paris for 4 sunny days in the South of France, bringing the whole team together for a week of growth and learning (and a bit of fun). It was a week packed with inspiring workshops and presentations, reflecting on our company’s journey and looking ahead to the future. The offsite also offered plenty of opportunities to learn from unexpected moments. Our account managers showcased their sharp negotiation skills in deciding the winning pétanque ball, while our engineers displayed high-level problem-solving abilities by expertly handling the barbecue. Last week was bright for Prelude, and the future looks even brighter! A huge thanks to Christopher W., our VP of Operations, for making it all possible. 👏👏

🚨 How to prevent SMS Pumping fraud before it impacts your bill? In a previous post, we saw how to detect SMS fraud. But how can you stop it from hitting your bottom line? Here are some proven strategies to protect your company and your users: ⚖️ Set a daily balance limit: Establish a daily spending limit (e.g., $300/day for OTP verification) to avoid unexpected bills at the end of the month - but this can lead to false positives if you have a very successful marketing campaign underway. 🚫 Build a block list: Create a manual block list to stop users identified as fraudulent, though this can be time-consuming and reactive. 🌎 Block specific countries: You can restrict certain countries, but this carries the risk of frustrating genuine users in those regions—use with caution. 💡 Leverage Prelude’s Verification API: Our fraud prevention system is built directly into our OTP API, powered by adaptive machine learning. 6 signs your business might be hit by SMS pumping fraud 🚨 Fraud is a constant challenge, but these key red flags can help you catch SMS pumping early: 1️⃣ Unexplained spikes in SMS traffic – Sudden increases without user activity may signal fraud. 2️⃣ Messages to unusual countries – If you’re sending SMS to regions you don’t operate in, it’s a red flag. 3️⃣ Sequential or patterned phone numbers – Fraudsters often use similar or automated numbers. 4️⃣ Lower conversion rates – Fraudsters won’t follow through with legitimate actions, lowering your conversion rate. 5️⃣ Customer complaints about OTP delays – Overloaded systems can delay legitimate requests. 6️⃣ Unexpectedly high SMS costs – A skyrocketing bill without more user activity?
