    Online meeting recordings are one of the key sources of business knowledge today. Just think of all the key decisions and action items exchanged daily during our work calls and webinars! However, given the large amount of audio data generated in meetings, getting the full value out of these recordings can be tricky. For instance, a user may want to review tasks set by their project manager during the last team call or collect a quote from a particular speaker in a seminar. Most meeting platforms give limited solutions when it comes to this, leaving speakers with lengthy transcripts to review. Speaker identification is designed specifically for these use cases. The feature relies on voice biometrics to distinguish and identify speakers in audio streams, providing organizations with more detailed insights into meetings. This tutorial will help you build a speaker identification system for video online meeting platforms and note-taking apps, using speaker embeddings and diarization. Yet, there’s a growing concern that benchmarks fail to represent real-world use cases, resulting in disappointing ASR performance in enterprise products and apps. In a market flooded with contradictory private benchmarks, there’s also the risk of overlooking great speech recognition alternatives due to commercial bias. This new article answers the key question - should you trust WER?
