Today, Armand Delbos presented his results on deep learning for microvascular imaging at Resolve Stroke. With Arthur Chavignon and Maxence Reberol, Armand has developed a brilliant implementation of 4D U-Net pipeline for ultrasound imaging. Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs), and in particular U-Nets, have been extensively used in medical imaging due to their ability to capture fine and complex feature representations through a series of convolutional and pooling layers. In traditional transcranial imaging, the strong absorption of ultrasound waves passing through the skull bone distorts the images, making anatomical features difficult to decode. By implementing a 4D U-Net pipeline, Armand was able to leverage a complete 3D+t dataset to improve imaging performances. Stay tuned for the results. Bravo, Armand Delbos 👏👏

[📣 Interesting Insights]  I recently discovered an insightful article by Alan Cohen at DCVC about the transformative potential of “TechMed” as opposed to traditional MedTech. I highly recommend reading his TechMed thesis to better understand our approach at Resolve Stroke. Here are two key points that stand out: 1.     🧠💻  New Era Leveraging Cutting-Edge Technological Capabilities with Data as the Atomic Element of Healthcare TechMed, fundamentally built on modern foundations, leverages technologies such as AI, GPU-accelerated computing power, and advanced software-based ultrasound platforms. Unlike the hardware-centric MedTech field that has long provided a profit sanctuary for legacy players, these deep-tech competencies can be adapted and applied to various medical use cases. In the ultrasound world, with now "easily" accessible massive raw 3D ultrasound data, we can extract much more information, leading to better patient outcomes. 2.      📈Omni-Market Potential TechMed companies focus on creating intelligent software systems rather than developing new medical devices per se. This is precisely what we can achieve with ultrasound technologies today. Traditional MedTech focuses on specific sub-systems like ortho, cardio, or neuro. This new "operating system" mindset provides a platform that serves as a foundation for a wide array of complementary applications and services. This is the power of software-based ultrasound platforms, enabling the creation of horizontal platforms that can scale across multiple therapeutic areas and use cases. We appreciate the pioneering work of Caption Health, acquired by GE HealthCare in 2023, for opening the door to TechMed in the ultrasound world. As the founder of Resolve Stroke, I can attest that our mission and technology align perfectly with the TechMed paradigm described in the article. At Resolve Stroke we’re heavily involved in this, and from what we can see, the entire industry will be transformed. The reason is simple. Ultrasound is non-invasive, portable, used in nearly every medical specialty and is relatively inexpensive. The limitation of ultrasound has fundamentally been the need for hardware development and the need of specialist to interpret the images. With software-based ultrasound platform, 3D and AI, this barrier is removed and the power of this modality truly unlocked.
