Every second counts in saving lives. ⏳❤️ All too often, a defibrillator is nearby, but nobody thinks to bring it in time. Yet using it quickly increases the chances of survival by a factor of 10. Every year, 50 000 people die from cardiac arrest in France, and in 90% of cases, the defibrillator remains unused because it cannot be identified and mobilised immediately. That's why we're delighted to see committed players putting their skills into action to raise public awareness and make it easier to identify and use defibrillators. Geocoeur, developed by Hekatech, responds to this crucial challenge by offering a simple, visible and effective device. This connected panel alerts passers-by when a cardiac arrest is reported and tells them in real time where the nearest defibrillator is and how to get it to the victim before the emergency services arrive. The aim is clear : to locate defibrillators quickly and mobilise the public, thereby improving the treatment of cardiac arrests and increasing the chances of survival. Thanks to this innovation, every second saved can make all the difference in emergency situations. 🫀 Cardiac arrest: 3 interesting facts to know 1- Young people are not spared Although often associated with the elderly, cardiac arrest can also affect young adults, particularly as a result of undiagnosed cardiovascular disease or congenital heart defects. 2- Various and sometimes unexpected causes In addition to heart attack, factors such as metabolic disorders, pulmonary embolism and certain infections can be the cause of cardiac arrest. 3- In France, between 40,000 and 60,000 people die each year from cardiac arrest. That's almost 200 people a day. ❤In the event of a cardiac arrest, every second counts. Your actions can mean the difference between life and death. Here are the key steps to follow : 1️⃣ Call the emergency services. Ask someone to call the emergency services (call your national emergency number (112 for Europe) and bring an automated external defibrillator (if available) immediately. Do this yourself if you are alone. 2️⃣ Start CPR immediately. The Bee Gees‘ Stayin’ Alive can also help you find the right rhythm for cardiac massage (100 to 120 BPM per minute) Use a defibrillator (AED) if you have one. These devices, designed to be accessible to everyone, guide you step by step with clear voice instructions. Don't be afraid to use it: it's safe and analyses the heart rhythm to decide whether a shock is needed. 3️⃣ Continue resuscitation Continue resuscitation until emergency services arrive or the victim regains normal breathing. 💪Why take action? Every minute without intervention reduces the chances of survival by 10%. With a rapid response and the use of a defibrillator or chest compressions. Dysfunction of the heart's electrical system can also cause a fatal arrhythmia (irregular heartbeat) and loss of the heart's ability to pump blood. Without immediate intervention, the chances of survival decrease by 10% every minute. ⚠️How to recognise cardiac arrest : - Sudden loss of consciousness - Abnormal or absent breathing - Absence of a pulse It can happen to anyone, at any time, regardless of age or health.
