🔬 SmartCatch proudly announces a groundbreaking advancement in blood filtration using micro-fabricated devices. In collaboration with experts from LAAS-CNRS, our team at SMARTCATCH has successfully developed a micro-perforated membrane equipped with sensing microelectrodes. This innovation allows for real-time detection of cellular material during the filtration of whole blood under high flow rates. Traditionally, blood filtration has been crucial in various clinical applications, from cytapheresis to monitoring cardiovascular diseases. However, our latest development takes this a step further. The micro-perforated membrane, integrated with sensing microelectrodes, enables in-situ and real-time monitoring of cellular material during ex-vivo filtration. Matthieu Sagot, our PHD student   from LAAS-CNRS, highlights, "Our work showcases the fabrication process of this microdevice and the exciting potential it holds for applications like monitoring blood filtration processes." The key benefits of this technology include: Real-Time Monitoring: In-situ tracking of electrical impedance characterizes the accumulation of living circulating cells, offering unprecedented insights during blood filtration. High Flow Rate Compatibility: Process large volume samples efficiently with flow rates as high as 11.5 mL/min. SmartCatch sees immense potential in applying this technology to elevate healthcare standards. The implications range from advancements in cytapheresis to enhancing liquid biopsy techniques.
