The SBA is a group of Business Angels who do this not only in Europe, but also Internationally. However, the contribution of Business Angels goes far beyond their financial support. They use their skills and experience to coach and mentor the entrepreneur and their team and, crucially, connect them into their professional network. This is the so-called "smart" money. We have 30 members from 10 countries and diverse backgrounds all working collaboratively to target innovative startups from various sectors. FinTech, ICT, Energy, IoT and Lifestyle are among those represented. The potential to disrupt a sector is a key consideration during the selection process. On 26-28 October 2023, the SBA held its traditional Fall International Venture Academy focusing on AgriTech and FoodTech as well as AI. We were pleased to welcome White Castle Partners as our partners and sponsor of this IVA which took place concurrently and in partnership with the Sophia Antipolis Investment Forum. In keeping with the SBA IVA tradition, half of the StartUps were from Korea, participating for the first time in a Sophia Antipolis event. The event ran from the Welcome Cocktail on Thursday evening 26 October through the all day coaching and competition session on Friday 27 October to the farewell brunch on 28 October.
