⭐ Historic Moment for Bangladesh ⭐ Today, Professor Muhammad Yunus, our co-founder, took the oath as the head of the interim government in Bangladesh. This monumental step reflects his unwavering dedication to his country and his lifelong mission of creating a world of peace and social justice. From Dhaka, he took the reins of the interim government after weeks-long student-led protests which brought down the Hasina government. As he always said: "Young people have the power. They are the ones who will change the world," and this is exactly what they did. 🇧🇩 As history is unfolding in front of our eyes, we are all witnessing a pivotal turn in the fate of Bangladesh and its people. We extend our best wishes to Professor Yunus, the young generation, and the entire nation as they embark on this new chapter towards a democratic future. A few months ago I posted about the unjust treatment of Muhammad Yunus. Since then I had a couple more opportunities to meet him in person since our first encounter, as he is a fantastic man who paves the way for the youth of tomorrow to become social entrepreneurs. Today I learned of the justice for this incredible man who will now lead the interim government of Bangladesh. He has always been willing to take on extremely complex challenges head on. This after years of being unjustly treated by a corrupt regime. Congrats Professor Muhammed Yunus, you continue to inspire! We just landed in Bangladesh 🇧🇩 We all like to think that Prof Yunus belongs to the world. After all, he pioneered microcredit and social business, two pivot concepts in global social development. He has friends all over and has his way to make them all feel valued. But BEFORE ANYTHING ELSE he belongs to Bangladesh 🇧🇩 His and his country's histories are intertwined. As if they had a common fate. He was born and grew up here. When Bangladesh became a country in 1971, he left a comfortable career in the US to contribute to building the nation, at his level. Amidst a terrible famine, he created microcredit, using his perfect understanding of the sociology of his people, and the challenges of his society. With social business, he contributed to solve some of Bangladesh's most pressing issues, from malaria to access to telecommunications, but also created some of its largest companies. When Bangladesh suffered an authoritarian regime, he suffered too. Since 2010, he faced over 200 baseless legal cases, constant harassments and public humiliation. Without ever stopping to continue his work and to do it with joy. 2 decades, thousands of public speeches and millions of dollars spent in diffamation and intelligence used against him by the Hasina Government have not been able to stop him, and to change his fate or the opinion of his people. Every single time he would walk in the street and randomly encounter a Bangladeshi in Paris, Roma or NY, they would tell him they trusted him and not Hasina's government. In the end, it happened precisely as he always said. 'Young people have the power. They are the ones who will change the world'. Those students saved Bangladesh, and indirectly, him too. Talk about a visionary... We just landed in Bangladesh 🇧🇩 Good luck Prof Yunus. Good luck Bangladesh (Last selfie before those become hard to get. Time for me to get out of the way 😂)

Statement from Professor Muhammad Yunus:  07 August 2024, “I congratulate the brave students who took the lead in making our Second Victory Day possible and to the people for giving your total support to them. Let us make the best use of our new victory. Let us not let this slip away because of our mistakes. I fervently appeal to everybody to stay calm. Please refrain from all kinds of violence. I appeal to all students, members of all political parties and non-political people to stay calm. This is our beautiful country with lots of exciting possibilities. We must protect and make it a wonderful country for us and for our future generations.   Our youth is ready to give this leadership in creating a new world. Let us not miss the chance by going into any senseless violence. Violence is our enemy. Please don’t create more enemies. Be calm and get ready to build the country.   If we take the path of violence everything will be destroyed. Please stay calm. Help those around you to stay calm.”

On our way to Bangladesh ✈️🇧🇩♥️ After 20 days out of the country, Prof Muhammad Yunus can finally go back to Dhaka, to accept the request of the People of Bangladesh to head the caretaker government. He is looking forward to land in his beloved country and will arrive in Dhaka on 08/08. History is unfolding in front of our eyes and his arrival is going to be a pivotal moment for the country.
