Yesterday, May 5, was African World Heritage Day, designated by UNESCO to give greater visibility to a lesser-known heritage. In fact, of the 1,199 sites in the world listed as Unesco World Heritage Sites, only 148 are in Africa. Interviewed by Le Monde on the uniqueness of African heritage, Lazare Eloundou, head of Unesco's World Heritage Center, believes that African heritage should not be seen through the prism of Western societies. For him, what counts is the significance of the place, its social use, its symbolic power in terms of beliefs and traditions. At the Lab, we believe that the various historical sites of the slave trade should be listed and protected as World Heritage Sites, as they are the guardians of a history that continues to influence the world we live in today. This is particularly true of Loango Bay, which we recently mentioned here, a historic site of the transatlantic slave trade that is threatened by coastal erosion. Located near Pointe Noire in the Republic of Congo, Loango Bay served as a port for the Portuguese, Dutch, British and French to ship enslaved people between the 16th and 19th centuries. With no real protection, Loango Bay is sinking into the sea year after year, taking with it the traces of an important site of remembrance of the transatlantic slave trade. Dr Runoko Rashidi: if you think your story begins with slavery, you will have the mentality of a slave « If you think your story begins with colonization, you will have the mentality of a colonized, of a subject of the colon », but if you know that your story begins with the dawn of humanity, with the invention of culture, with the development of civilization, then you will be different women and men The Black civilization of ancient America: the first inhabitants of the Americas were Black/Negritic Africans who arrived via the Bering Strait and, according to Galdwin's thesis, others left from the regions of the great lakes and the filled Sahara, to across the Pacific Ocean, but also from West Africa across the Atlantic Ocean to the Americas.

The Black/African Kingdoms: the Nok civilization (between 1500 and 500 BC) in Nigeria; the Nok culture arose towards the end of the Neolithic (Stone Age) and marks the beginning of the Iron Age in sub-Saharan Africa; « The Nok civilization was one of the first Black/African centers of iron working and the production of terracotta figurines, the Nok culture remains an enigma; the Nok was a highly advanced society, with one of the most complex legal systems of the time, and the first large-scale terracotta producers in sub-Saharan Africa » It appears today as a very advanced civilization both in its social organization and in its refinement at a time when the rest of southern Africa was entering the Neolithic era (the stone age when hunters and cultivators could not use only lithic tools). We have, on occasion, spoken of an immediate descent with ancient Egypt or ancient Nubia to partly explain the maturity of this civilization, but this is debatable. At present, the Nok culture is considered the oldest producer of terracottas in sub-Saharan Africa.

Duty of Memory: The raison d'être of historical collective memory in sub-Saharan Africa, among the common characteristics of the peoples of Africa, is collective memory; (from East to West, from North to South, through the center, there are notable similarities, more expressed by the collective memory of Black/African peoples); « Since time immemorial, Black/African peoples have always had the habit of traveling a lot, of mixing with each other; there was close collaboration between (kingdoms, empires, villages, clans) » This resulted in the consolidation of cooperation, the (free exchange) of goods, as well as the circulation of knowledge across the continent and beyond. « Moreover, this cooperation between peoples has resulted (in the dialogue of cultures) ».

#Gogol #absurd This paper in l'Express in 2009 precedes the Russia and Ukraine war, it has always been about which country Gogol belongs to. A former friend while in Uni described Gogol as an anarchist and because of that label I did not read. The former friend was a plastician, somehow wrongly reduced his genius to the plastic art that could derive from anarchy: but nothing could come out and be comparable. Plastic art needs bourgeoisie, upper class buyers, aristocratic values. Plastic art could not be generated from Gogol stories. I now believe his work is above any representation. Perhaps only Bansky could. The 2009 paper explains well his 3 worlds, Ukraine-Poland-Russia being the ferment of his genius, in the same time hints at the choice of his own end. The global mass population however, has also chosen their/our common end: endless growth and climate doom. My choice of reading for the next travel, if not riding a motorcycle, will be Gogol. On a big bike ride we can not think of humanity whether which country we are siding with for the crime but we are totally on the opposite of the human sides, being rather on the nature side.

Duty of memory: many consider that Blacks/Africans have not sufficiently marked History; some come to the brutal conclusion that Blacks/Africans have no history, or that their history dates back to European colonization; However, more than any other continent, Africa has a glorious past, the hidden and erased history of an exalted people; « There is no philosophy when it comes to talking about the history of Black/African civilizations in the world, no people in the world alive today are unaware or claim to be ignorant of their past, their history » ... (VIDEO) Every people in the world living today lives with its cultural memory. It is of the utmost importance to know one's history, the cultural evolution of one's people, in time and space, to better grasp and understand the incessant progress of humanity, and also to contribute to it, with complete lucidity, and responsibility.

Duty of memory: At the origin of the multiple constitutions of man from the temples of ancient Egypt to the sacred groves of Black Africa to (KA and BA, among the ancient Egyptians) via the (NIA and the DIA, among the Bamanans), we see that our Negro-African ancestors from ancient Egypt were the first to have given a more detailed overview of the human personality in all its components, both visible (mortal) and invisible (immortal); « Their scholarly observation of Man goes beyond the classic soul-body duality » For our illustrious ancestors, from the height of their sciences imbued with Maat, true life begins beyond so-called (earthly) death, and duality, they went beyond, that is to say (the triple, the sevenfold, the tenfold; Etc.) constitution of man.
