World Champions Suhas Yathiraj, Pramod Bhagat, Krishna Nagar, Manasi Joshi, Sumit Antil and Yogesh Kathuniya headline presence of Paris 2024 - Comité d'organisation des Jeux Olympiques et Paralympiques de 2024 stars at the Trailblazers Conclave. 7-8 March 2024, Kolkata. When you are fighting for newsprint against cricket, you always have the risk of ending up second best. And when it is an intense Test match in Ranchi that could lead to an Indian series win, it is more so. Thereafter in the evening there is the WPL. No wonder than that Indias gold medal winners at the Para badminton world championships, Suhas Yathiraj, Pramod Bhagat and Krishna Nagar aren’t really celebrated in today’s sports pages. Each has won a world championship gold by the way and in doing so added to our expectations for the Paris Paralympics. Suhas’ reaction has gone viral on social media and is evidence what the gold means to him and his coach Gaurav Khanna. I am delighted to say each one of them, and others like Manasi Joshi who did as well in the world’s, Sumit Antil and Yogesh Kathuniya headline the list of Paralympic champions attending the trailblazers conclave. The idea is to celebrate their journeys and take a step towards equality. While we need to understand how they are all readying themselves for the ultimate Paralympic dream, it is also time to take stock and take a pause. Do we celebrate them enough? Are they still treated as objects of sympathy or are they athletes who deserve much more? How do we accelerate this change? For Suhas, an IAS officer of repute, sport is his means to stay in the zone. Face adversity and get ready for the challenges like Covid. For Sumit Antil, who breaks world records at almost every competition he participates, touching the 75m mark in Javelin is now the goal. Just as we celebrate Neeraj, we will celebrate Sumit. As much as we celebrate Prannoy, we will celebrate Suhas. That’s the idea behind the Trailblazers conclave presented by Tata Steel Let’s make a bold prediction here. India won 1 medal in London 2012. It became 4 in Rio 2016 and 19 in Tokyo 2020. I think 40 medals in Paris isn’t a far cry. It could be a watershed moment for Indian sport and mainstream Paralympic sport in a way that we haven’t seen before. For us at RevSportz able bodied and Para sport need to be celebrated side by side. For Para sport is Parallel sport and not sport for men and women with disabilities. That’s how we become a more inclusive society and a better country. At Trailblazers 2.0 that’s what we will be doing as we celebrate our Champions.

Gunmarhdhar, a small village in Jammu, has found a new hero in Sheetal Devi. When the Indian duo of Sheetal Devi and Rakesh Kumar clinched the bronze medal in the mixed team compound archery competition at the 2024 Paralympics, they not only brought glory to their nation but also uplifted their family and community. Sheetal's father, Mann Singh, proudly shared with the Indian Express, “Here at our village and around this place, Sinthan Pass is most famous. Sheetal has given a new identity to this village. Her medal is our biggest treasure.” Sheetal’s success has transformed her family’s life. Her father, once a daily labourer and stone breaker, is now overseeing the construction of a new two-room house, funded by Sheetal's prize money. "The house is a gift from Sheetal," Singh said. “She is paying for the construction using cash awards she had won.” Born with Phocomelia, a condition affecting limb development, Sheetal has defied all odds. Her parents, Mann Singh and Shakti Devi, have been her unwavering support system. Despite financial challenges, they have always worked tirelessly to provide for their family, cultivating maize and vegetables on their small plot of land. Under the guidance of coaches Kuldeep Vedwan and Abhilasha, Sheetal honed her archery skills, and her recent bronze medal win at the Paris Paralympics is a testament to her dedication and talent. #Paris2024 #Paralympics #TeamIndia #IndiaAtParalympics #SheetalDevi #Archery #Inspiration [Paris Paralympics 2024, Team India India At Paralympics, Sheetal Devi, Archery]

India’s Medal Triumph at the Paris Paralympics: A Golden Milestone! India's journey at the Paris Paralympics 2024 has been nothing short of extraordinary! Navdeep's incredible performance in the F41 men’s javelin throw event has brought India its 7th gold medal after a dramatic upgrade, while Simran’s remarkable sprint in the T12 200m secured her a well-deserved bronze. Navdeep initially finished second, but his silver was upgraded to gold after the disqualification of Iran’s Beit Sayah Sadegh, who was penalized for unsporting behavior. This makes Navdeep’s 47.32-meter throw not only a personal best but also a new Paralympic record! Simran, another star of the Games, clinched the bronze medal in the T12 200m race with a personal best time of 24.75 seconds, adding to India’s growing medal tally. Her story is one of grit and determination, overcoming her visual impairment and personal loss to become a beacon of inspiration. With a total of 29 medals, including 7 golds, India stands proud among the top-performing nations at the Games. These victories are a testament to the unwavering spirit of our athletes and the country's commitment to inclusivity in sports. Curious to know more about these inspiring journeys?
