Bravo pour cette excellente initiative et un grand merci pour votre engagement! Les cancers de la tête et du cou ne sont pas très bien connus dans la société mais leur impact est majeur. En tant que spécialiste en radiologie tête et cou, depuis des années, je vois une augmentation des tumeurs ORL et des patients de plus en plus jeunes. Même si nos techniques d’imagerie permettent de poser le diagnostic de manière plus précise et à des stades moins avancés, informer et faire connaître les symptômes précoces est primordial pour une prise en charge optimale.

The Mammogram Poster Girls are thrilled to announce a a grant donation of $20,000 to fund a new partnership with the Parkland Health Foundation! Parkland Health Foundation received a $20,000 gift from Mammogram Poster Girls to support breast health diagnostics for women who are uninsured or underinsured in Dallas County. For women at risk for breast cancer, annual screenings are often the difference between early-stage and late-stage diagnosis, improving treatment options and long-term odds for survival. “This investment will make a significant impact on patient care,” said Michael Horne, EdD, MPP, president and CEO, Parkland Health Foundation. “Patients often delay screenings or follow-up appointments to avoid possible debt, and this gift from Mammogram Poster Girls will help ensure that more women have equitable and affordable access to the resources they need to detect breast cancer.” As the only public safety-net health system in Dallas County, Parkland provides access to healthcare and critical resources regardless of ZIP code, race, ethnicity or income level. At Parkland, breast cancer patients are diagnosed younger than the national average (36% under the age of 50 vs 19% nationally) and at later stages (23% are stage III and IV collectively at the time of diagnosis vs 10% nationally). Nationally, women of color are disproportionately impacted: once diagnosed, Black women have the highest age-adjusted mortality rate for breast cancer, and it is the number one cause of Latinx cancer deaths. When it comes to diagnoses and care options, uninsured and underinsured women in Dallas County often encounter obstacles such as making impossible choices between caring for themselves or caring for others, paying for treatment or paying for food, working to support their families or taking time off to go receive treatments and more time off to recover from the side effects. With the support of Mammogram Poster Girls, more women in Dallas County will be able to receive diagnostic mammograms and ultrasounds and ultimately receive the care they need at Parkland. “The Mammogram Poster Girls Inc. (MPG) is excited to partner with Parkland Health to provide free screening and diagnostic mammograms to women in need in Dallas County,” said Sheri Mathis, co-founder and President of MPG. “We know the critical importance of early detection and are grateful for the opportunity to broaden our ability to save lives…one mammogram at a time." More than 30,000 screening exams and diagnostic tests are provided through Parkland’s comprehensive breast health program each year. Parkland continues to decrease barriers to care and address existing disparities in Dallas County through its clinics—the Moody Center for The Mammogram Poster Girls have funded over 1,700 breast cancer screening and diagnostic procedures to date--helping more than 500 patients in 2023 alone.

Journée de l'Europe 🇪🇺 En 2020 nous avons créé l'initiative FIGHT KIDS CANCER avec nos homologues européens KickCancer Foundation en Belgique et Fondatioun Kriibskrank Kanner (aide aux enfants atteints d'un cancer) au Luxembourg avec pour ambition de dynamiser et d'accélérer la recherche en oncologie pédiatrique ! En 4 ans, nous avons réussi, collectivement, à lever 18 millions d'euros pour financer 30 projets de recherche sur 11 types de cancers chez les enfants et adolescents avec d'autres organisations européennes CRIS Cancer Foundation en Espagne et Stichting Kinderen Kankervrij (KiKa) au Pays-Bas 🤩 Cette année, l’appel à projets est dédié aux tumeurs cérébrales qui représentent la deuxième forme de cancer la plus fréquente chez les enfants et dont les formes les plus graves sont particulièrement difficiles à soigner. Des projets déjà soutenus par Imagine for Margo ont permis de mieux comprendre ces cancers et d’ouvrir des pistes thérapeutiques prometteuses. [#OCTOBREROSE] Le mois de sensibilisation aux cancers du #sein 🎗️🎀 Le cancer du sein touche chaque année plus de 61 000 femmes en France. Il est le cancer le plus meurtrier chez la femme avec 12 600 décès par an (Panorama des cancers de l'Institut national du cancer, édition 2024). Merci Oncostar.Be pour cet article intéressant.👍 J’en profite pour rappeler que 3 facteurs liés à l’alimentation ont été clairement associés à l’apparition du cancer colorectal : 🍷 la consommation d’alcool, 🍔 le surplus de poids et l’obésité, 🥩 la consommation de viandes et de charcuteries. Par ailleurs, 🚬 le tabac est catégorisé en groupe 1 par le CIRC, avec des preuves solides de son lien avec les cancers colorectaux. 💙 Prévenir le cancer colorectal passe par le dépistage et l’application de mesures préventives en lien avec l’alimentation et le mode de vie. 🌈 Le diététicien peut aider à prévenir ces risques en accompagnant le patient avec des conseils personnalisés. #prevention #cancercolorectal #cancer #dieteticien

#MISA Women, remember to do a pap smear or mammogram #MISA rewards 500 members who takes precaution by doing pap smears or mammograms annually to prevent cancer. The Healthy #MISA Women Benefit of R3 000 was introduced to motivate women to be preventative and have regular check-ups. According to the Cancer Association of South Africa (Cansa), women have a 1 in 42-lifetime risk of developing cervical cancer. It is the second most common cancer among South African women, but the cancer that claims the lives of the most women in our country. Cervical cancer is treatable if detected at an early stage. That is why it is important for women to go for pap smears and mammograms to do cancer screening. Breast cancer is one of the most common cancers among women in South Africa. Screening mammography reduces the risk of death due to breast cancer because small tumours are detected. When cancers are small, more treatment options are available. To claim the #MISA Healthy Women benefit all you need to do is a pap smear or mammogram during 2024 and attended any follow up appointments or treatments if required or recommended to do so by the Health Care Practitioner. This document should provide the following information: • Proof of the mammogram or Pap smear and any other follow-up treatments is required. A Medical practitioner that is registered with the Health Professions Council of South Africa must have done this. • A copy of your ID document that is certified by a registered Commissioner of Oaths. • Bank stamped Proof of Banking details or Bank statement. Invoices or statements will not be accepted as proof. This claim can only be submitted from 1 January 2025. The benefit closing date is 31 March 2025. If your claim was not successful, the following could have been factors leading to the validity of the claim: • Irregular/early submissions; • Incomplete applications; • Break in membership contributions; and • Applications, which do not meet the required criteria.
