We're marking a significant advancement in our mining operations as 35 Autonomous Haulage Systems (AHS) trucks recently rolled out at our Base Plant Millennium Mine. AHS trucks operate using GPS, wireless communication and perceptive technologies, offering many advantages to operational performance including improving safety, reliability and efficiency, while driving a more competitive cost per barrel.

Does that mean 35 operators lose their job? Or they being re-positioned? Just curious!

Next level automation is driving huge gains in productivity. As more of these systems are deployed, the costs will reduce and we will see AI-based robotics and operations take on a wider range of dangerous and repetitive jobs with fewer accidents and higher output. Hopefully the higher productivity creates more economic activity for more jobs in new roles for those workers who are displaced.

Computers are not reliable. Anytime an orcastra of digital, internet based, computers technology is interfaced, it ends up requiring constant interaction, and is unreliable. Keep It Simple Stupid. If mine production wobbles due to a shift toward this type of model, everyone looses. I would definitely consider still having manned units in the fleet.

NGM has tried the same and you just treat your employees good and that as green as it gets, till they make trucks AI and just let the program run
