This year’s IAA TRANSPORTATION in Germany was another great opportunity to connect with global industry leaders and gain valuable insights into the future of #transportation and #logistics 🚀 Here are the most important trends and highlights we observed: 🌎 Global Participation: Over 1,650 exhibitors participated, with more than 70% coming from abroad, demonstrating strong interest in IAA Transportation and the #EU market. 🎯Industry Focus: Many major global players from the logistics industry were present. The focus remained on electrification & charging, alongside key topics like #connectivity/ #digitalization, #fleetmanagement, and sustainability. ⚡L4 #Autonomy Presence: L4 full autonomy was, once again, not a major focus, as it was two years ago. However, compared to IAA 2022, more L4 key players were in attendance: 🔹 Plus showcased an IVECO truck with their L2+ solution and participated in keynotes at the parallel conference. 🔹Continental displayed an Aurora/Continental development truck. 🔹Torc Robotics and Kodiak also made its presence felt on the conference stage and with a booth. 🔹Inceptio Technology, a new L3/l4 trucking player from China, was present for the first time at IAA Transportation —[RK1]  although without a booth or truck. 🔹Tesla Semi Truck: The Tesla Semi Truck made its European debut. Deliveries to European customers are expected no earlier than 2026, and it's still unclear whether the first trucks will feature Full Self Driving (FSD). Tesla did not comment on this during the conference. 💥L4 in Europe: The still somewhat limited but growing presence of #L4 trucking players in Europe is no coincidence. Currently, the L4 focus is primarily on the U.S. market. However, once "driver-out" is achieved and commercialization begins, the European market, with its significantly more complex conditions, will gain more attention. Plus is currently the only L4 player actively involved in the European market, having secured key partnerships (e.g., with IVECO and TRATON GROUP). While their focus is initially on L2+, this is part of their "evolutionary path" strategy, which differs from the approaches taken by Torc, Aurora, and Kodiak. We had some great conversations with (former) clients, partners, and numerous other industry players and experts. On Monday, our colleagues Celine Chen and Michael Herdrich gave presentation at the eMonday event, organized by eMove360° - Electric & Autonomous Mobility and hosted by csi entwicklungstechnik. They discussed the current status, challenges, and future outlook of #autonomousmobility in Europe, the USA, and China, sharing insights from P3's work, including highlights from our Robotaxi Benchmarking. They were joined by Prof. Peter Naumann (Hochschule München University of Applied Sciences), Oscar Slotosch (Validas AG), and Andre Hartmann (TactoTek) who explored safety and design aspects of autonomous mobility, offering valuable perspectives on the industry's evolving landscape. The presentations sparked engaging discussions on the future of autonomous mobility in different markets, underscoring the critical importance of #customeracceptance and #publicawareness in advancing #autonomoustechnology.
