This natural limestone monolith stands approximately 40 meters high and is crowned with a small church and hermitage. 🌟 Fascinating Facts About Katskhi Pillar Ancient Hermitage: The tiny church atop the pillar dates back to the 9th or 10th century and is dedicated to Maximus the Confessor. For centuries, it served as a place of solitude and worship for Christian monks. Reconstruction: After being abandoned in the 15th century, the church and hermitage were reconstructed in the 1990s.
