Apax Global Alpha (LON: APAX) offers public access to a diversified portfolio of high-quality companies by investing in Private Equity Funds advised by Apax. These companies are identified and selected by the Apax team, leveraging their deep sector insights, and drawing on the firm’s 50-year experience. Capital not invested in Private Equity is deployed into a portfolio of debt to generate income towards the dividend and additional returns. AGA’s objective is to provide shareholders with capital appreciation from its investment portfolio and regular dividends. The Company is targeting an annualised Total Return, across economic cycles, of 12-15% (net of fees and expenses) including a dividend yield of 5% of Net Asset Value. The key messages from APAX’s well-received 2024 CM day and related announcements were: i) a new capital allocation policy with a set 11p dividend (current yield ca.7%) and creation of a distribution pool for future buybacks (if the discount is above 23%) (€30m has been seeded into pool and buybacks started); ii) the value added by the four-sector “hidden gems” strategy of buying businesses with unrealised potential at discount to peers (average 24%), improving them (average 15% increase in EBITDA growth during Apax Funds ownership), then selling at a premium (11%); and iii) the stock of exit-able businesses is rebuilding after above-normal exits in 2020-21. The Apax Funds first invested in idealista in 2015, supporting the co-founders in growing the business. Today, AGA announced an update to its capital allocation framework and the commencement of a Share Buyback Programme to maximise returns for shareholders. "The Board believes that AGA’s current discount to NAV presents an attractive opportunity for AGA to create immediate value for shareholders by investing in the company’s own shares.
