Through the Apax Foundation, we are proud to have been working with IntoUniversity since 2015. IntoUniversity is an award-winning charity dedicated to helping young people facing disadvantage in the UK to access higher education.   As part of the partnership, the Apax Foundation provides donations, runs a mentorship programme and a week-long work experience programme.   Mark Sykes, Principal at Apax, sits on the advisory board of IntoUniversity and provides one-to-one mentorship for young people through the charity. We kicked off the Fall season with our 6th annual Female Founders, Funders, and Friends event—bringing together 45+ incredible women from the tech community! This year, we expanded the circle by teaming up with colleagues across the Apax Digital, Buyout, Impact, and OEP teams. The energy in the room was unmatched as we dove into conversations on how to attain board roles, how to make an impact in the boardroom and how to get the most from your board as an executive. Our panelists offered valuable advice, emphasizing the importance of the CEO and other board members clearly communicating to independent directors why they are being recruited and the specific perspectives they are expected to contribute to the board. A huge highlight was our panel featuring friends of the firm Betsy Atkins (who serves on 24 boards and overseen 13 IPOs!) and Dru Armstrong, CEO of AffiniPay. Their insights left us all inspired and ready to embrace the future of the industry. We had a great time hosting a full-day workshop with SEO London, connecting with 70+ ambitious students to talk about all things Private Equity! Discussions covered a wide range of topics, including fundraising, portfolio management, sourcing, and due diligence. We then shifted gears to talk about Private Equity career paths, finishing with a hands-on CV review session. The energy was incredible, and the students asked some great questions.
