As part of our youth empowerment initiatives, 15 young women graduated from our Girls in Dressmaking Apprenticeship Programme on Thursday, 15 August 2024, after completing four years of training in tailoring, dressmaking, beading, knitting, overlocking, embroidery, and fashion design. Each graduand received a complete startup package that included industrial sewing machines, half-piece GTP cloths, electric irons, sewing kits, tailors' scissors, and other essential items from the Mine to help them launch their businesses. The Mine also provided sewing machines, fabrics, and free access to employee buses to transport them from their various communities to the training centre. Additionally, we have established an ultra-modern vocational centre with a business unit in Teberebie, fully equipped for training and commercial garment production. We also used the occasion to welcome 20 new beneficiaries into our Girls in Dressmaking Apprenticeship Programme. This investment in young women reflect our purpose of mining to empower people and advance societies. By equipping them with essential skills and tools, we are not only addressing unemployment but also inspiring creativity, independence, and entrepreneurship within our host communities. Together, we are building resilient communities and making a positive contribution towards an enduring world. #AngloGoldAshanti #IduapriemMine #GraduationAndInductionCeremonyForGirlsInDressmakingApprenticeshipProgramme #YouthEmpowerment #CommunityDevelopment #SustainableLivelihoods

On Monday, 22 July 2024, we proudly held a historic groundbreaking ceremony to commence the construction of a state-of-the-art neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) at the Tarkwa Municipal Hospital. This initiative addresses the pressing maternal, infant, and neonatal mortality issues in the Tarkwa Nsuaem Municipality. Currently, the makeshift NICU has been insufficient, leading to congestion and increased infection risks among infants. The new 60-bed facility will be equipped with modern medical technology to provide quality healthcare for families facing neonatal challenges. This $1 million project reflects our commitment to improving survival rates for premature and critically ill infants, ensuring they have the opportunity to thrive. We are grateful to our partners - the Tarkwa Nsuaem Municipal Assembly, Municipal Health Directorate, NICU Committee, Nananom, and our dedicated healthcare workers, for their unwavering support. Together, we are building a healthier and more resilient future for our communities. Stay tuned for updates on the official commissioning and handover ceremony. #AngloGoldAshanti #IduapriemMine #NICU #Tarkwa #Sustainability #MiningToEmpowerPeopleAndAdvanceSocieties
