Celebrating ESG & Sustainability at ACGC 2024 🎉 ! Another highlight that really stood out to me at our ACGC (African Corporate and Government Counsel Forum) conference was the focus on ESG and the role we ALL play in driving sustainability. This year, we took our own small but meaningful steps by going completely paperless for the conference and reusing materials from past events to reduce waste. These might seem like little actions, but they reflect the larger change we’re all striving for—embedding sustainability in everything we do. On Day 1, the morning kicked off with the powerful panel discussion, ESG from the Breakroom to the Boardroom, sponsored by n. dowuona & company & moderated by NanaAma Botchway. Juliet Ofeibea Manteaw-Kutin (Asante Gold Corp), Doreen Iliasu (Stanbic Bank Ghana), Osose Aziba (BAT), and Naa shiokor Boi-Bi-Boi (Vivo Energy) shared how in-house legal teams can take the lead in driving sustainability and embedding ESG values into corporate strategy. It was truly inspiring to hear how they’re making meaningful changes in their organizations, driving sustainability from within. On Day 2, we continued the ESG focus with the Breakfast Masterclass: Sustainability Reporting Demystified, proudly sponsored by Herbert Smith Freehills. Ernst Müller, Director at HSF, South Africa, expertly unpacked the complexities of global sustainability frameworks like IFRS S1 & S2 and the EU’s CSRD. The session offered valuable insights into compliance monitoring and how organizations can enhance their sustainability initiatives. 🌍🌱 These sessions underscored that whether it’s through corporate initiatives or small everyday steps, Africa has a vital role in driving ESG on the global stage, making every action count toward a more sustainable future. 🌱 EVERY LITTLE STEP, whether it’s going paperless or embedding ESG into corporate strategies—counts towards a larger impact. #ACGC2024 #Sustainability #ESG #InHouseCounsel #africaninhouse #CorporateCounselAfrica #BuildingForTheFuture #communitybuilding

The Ghana Police Service has rolled out Traffitech-GH, an automated traffic enforcement system designed to reduce violations and enhance safety. Using cameras and sensors, the system electronically captures offenses like speeding and red-light running, sending SMS notifications for fines. With no need for police stops, this tech aims to foster better compliance, reduce corruption, and improve road safety. Do you think this innovation will improve our safety and compliance?
