  • Yesterday, Thursday, October 31, 2024, the next session on covering additional Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for e-waste center operations, under the implementation of the Hazardous and Electronic Wastes Control and Management Act, 2016 (Act 917) and the Hazardous, Electronic, and Other Wastes (Classification), Control and Management Regulations, 2016 (LI 2250), was held at GreenAd's E-waste Receiving Centre in Agbogbloshie, Accra. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), in collaboration with GIZ, has developed nine (9) SOPs for specific electrical and electronic equipment within the e-waste sector. To test the SOPs' efficiency, particularly at e-waste handing-over and receiving centers, the team visited our receiving center at Agbogbloshie. Our project manager, Bennett Samuel Akuffo, led the group through the processes of collection, sorting, and other operations. Representatives from EPA, GIZ, the National Handing Over Centre (HOC), Caritas, and Eco Solutions were in attendance. #EwasteManagement #Ghana #Sustainability #GreenAd #EPAGhana #GizGhana #Caritas #EcoSolutions #SOP

  • As part of the implemention of the Hazardous and Electronic Wastes Control and Management Act, 2016 (Act 917), and the Hazardous, Electronic and Other Wastes (Classification), Control and Management Regulations, 2016 (LI 2250), the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), in collaboration with GIZ, has developed nine (9) Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for specific electrical and electronic equipment in the e-waste sector. Today, October 29, 2024, GreenAd participated in a test of these draft SOPs at Mago Motors, Accra. Representing GreenAd were our Project Manager Bennett Samuel Akuffo and the Payment Incentive Officer Seth Agyekum. The team contributed valuable insights on procedures for plastic shredding and sorting operations, helping to identify areas for improvement and ensure these guidelines are robust and effective. These SOPs aim to standardize processes across Ghana's e-waste dismantling industry, fostering safer and more efficient practices. The next session, covering additional SOPs for e-waste center operations, is scheduled for Thursday, October 31, 2024. Stay tuned for updates. #EwasteManagement #Ghana #Sustainability #GreenAd #EPAGhana #GizGhana

  • GreenAd Participates in GIZ E-Waste and Scrap Dealers Workshop The GreenAd team was invited to the annual GIZ 2-Day E-Waste and Scrap Dealers Workshop, held on Monday and Tuesday, October 21 & 22, 2024. The event, which was hosted by GIZ Ghana in Accra, Ghana, focused on addressing current challenges and exploring new opportunities within the e-waste landscape. As the first e-waste collection center in Ghana, GreenAd was invited to share its pioneering experiences, particularly in the collection of four e-waste fractions. Our Project Manager, Bennett Akuffo, and Programs Manager, Daniel Owiredu, represented the team at the workshop. During his presentation, Bennett Samuel Akuffo provided an insightful overview of GreenAd’s e-waste journey, its active involvement in improving e-waste management, and the operations of the first E-Waste Collection Centre in Ghana. He also addressed the specific e-waste fractions collected, the challenges faced in the field, and GreenAd’s plans to transform the Agbogbloshie Recycling Centre into a modern e-waste village. “In 2013, the Agbogbloshie Recycling Centre (ARC) Project Phase I was established in direct response to Agbogbloshie’s international exposure as a highly polluted area,” Bennett stated, emphasizing the need for continued innovation and improvement in e-waste management practices. #Ewaste #GreenAd #Sustainability #CircularEconomy #GIZ #ScrapDealers #Environment #Sdgs #Agbogbloshie
