12 𝒀𝒐𝒖𝒕𝒉 𝒕𝒓𝒂𝒊𝒏𝒆𝒅 𝒂𝒔 𝑷𝒆𝒂𝒄𝒆 𝑨𝒎𝒃𝒂𝒔𝒔𝒂𝒅𝒐𝒓𝒔 In line with our vision of #YouthLeadingChnage and part of the objectives of the "𝑰𝒏𝒇𝒓𝒂𝒔𝒕𝒓𝒖𝒄𝒕𝒖𝒓𝒆 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝑷𝒆𝒂𝒄𝒆 𝑷𝒓𝒐𝒋𝒆𝒄𝒕", we mobilized and trained 12 young people (5 females and 7 males), including 6 Fulbe, from Sapelliga, Tilli, and Kusanaba, as Youth Peace Ambassadors (YPAs). These young ambassadors have been empowered with #skills and knowledge to lead community actions to foster dialogue, promote inter-ethnic peace and social cohesion in their communities. After the training, the YPAs in Tilli took the lead and organized three insightful radio discussions on Radio Zebs, addressing key topics such as “Overcoming Cultural and Ethnic Divides for Peace and Social Cohesion” and “Community Development – The Role of Every Community Member.” The YPAs of Sapelliga and Kusanaba are planning their own activities and would be utilizing drama and sports to further strengthen social cohesion. Stay tuned for these exciting initiatives! #YouthLeadingChange #Peace #socialcohesion #inclusion U.S. Embassy Ghana

𝑰𝒏𝒇𝒓𝒂𝒔𝒕𝒓𝒖𝒄𝒕𝒖𝒓𝒆 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝑷𝒆𝒂𝒄𝒆 𝑷𝒓𝒐𝒋𝒆𝒄𝒕: 𝑪𝒐𝒎𝒎𝒖𝒏𝒊𝒕𝒚 𝑰𝒏𝒕𝒆𝒓-𝒆𝒕𝒉𝒏𝒊𝒄 𝑫𝒊𝒂𝒍𝒐𝒈𝒖𝒆𝒔 Our dedication to fostering peace and social cohesion has earned us significant recognition, including funding from the U.S Embassy, under the Ambassador Resilient Fund. With this support, we are implementing the "Infrastructure for Peace" project in three border #communities in the Bawku West District of the Upper East Region. This initiative focuses on building and enhancing key #infrastructure to promote #peace and stability. As part of this project, we co-facilitated #inter-ethnic dialogues in Sapelliga, Tilli, and Kusanaba. These dialogues provided a safe and open space for at least five ethnic groups Kusasis, Frafras, Fulbe, Bissas, and Mossis to engage in objective and candid discussions about inter-ethnic relations. The conversations explored the historical events that shape current relationships, the frequency of interactions, perceptions, and stereotypes. They also fostered constructive dialogue to understand the root causes of challenges, such as access to land, cultural differences, and past tensions. Each dialogue concluded with a strong sense of #unity. All ethnic groups rallied behind a shared vision of #peacefulcoexistence, committing to practical solutions to address sources of tension. Key actors, including Chiefs, Elders, Area Councils, Community Members, and Youth, were identified with key roles to play in advancing inter-ethnic harmony. Together, these communities are taking decisive steps toward lasting peace. In our next post we would share with you how we engaged with the youth of these communities in relation to #peacebuilding. #YouthLeadingChange #Peace #social cohesion #inclusion

𝘾𝙪𝙡𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙖𝙡 𝙀𝙭𝙘𝙝𝙖𝙣𝙜𝙚 𝙋𝙧𝙤𝙜𝙧𝙖𝙢 Once again, we had the opportunity to host and facilitate a 10-days cultural exchange visit for 30 students from the Silkeborg Højskole. The students were warmly welcomed to Tamale, where they experienced the rich culture and hospitality of our communities. They toured the vibrant township of Tamale exploring the market, streets, and arts center. During their stay, they also visited Woribugu, where they engaged in exciting sports and dance activities, engaging with the youth and building lasting bonds through shared passions. At the Tamale youth home, they immersed themselves in the rhythm of traditional drumming and dance, learning the deep-rooted cultural expressions of our people. Their adventure continued with an overnight stay at Kpanashe community, where they experienced the vibrant village life and connected with locals in a meaningful way. Together we took a long drive to Karaga, where a youth rally was held filled with energy, enthusiasm, and lots of fun, celebrating the power of youth and community spirit. They had the opportunity to interact with members of the Karaga Youth Centre, danced played local games and even donated 2 footballs to the centre. And finally, they wrapped up their visit in Dalung, touring the community, learning about the development activities ongoing, reflecting on the unforgettable experiences. Together, we are fostering global friendships and mutual understanding, paving the way for future collaborations and exchanges. We look forward to hosting them again in the near future! A big thank you to all the community members who made this exchange possible! 🙏❤️ #YouthLeadingChange #culturalexchange #globalfriendship Ghana Venskab Youth Opportunity Partnership Program (YOPP)

𝘾𝙡𝙤𝙨𝙚-𝙤𝙪𝙩 𝙤𝙛 𝘾𝙪𝙧𝙧𝙚𝙣𝙩 𝙥𝙧𝙤𝙟𝙚𝙘𝙩 𝙬𝙞𝙩𝙝 𝙁𝙐𝙔𝘼𝙂: 𝘼 𝙎𝙩𝙧𝙤𝙣𝙜𝙚𝙧 𝙁𝙐𝙔𝘼𝙂. Our six months project with the Fulani Youth Association of Ghana - FUYAG regional branches finally comes to a close. This year's project focused on building the institutional capacity of FUYAG through trainings and dialogues at the regional and district levels. The close out event brought together Regional representatives of FUYAG, reps of the peace Council, NCCE, National FUYAG, Council of Fulbe Chiefs, Other youth groups and partners. It provided a platform to learn, share, reflect and make recommendations for future engagement with the Fulbe society. A representative from the Council of Fulani Chiefs stated that the project marks the start of a new era for FUYAG and the Fulbe community. He emphasized that connections has been established and opportunities for FUYAG members to utilize to their advantage. NCCE and Peace Council in Northern Ghana, expressed excitement to be part of the journey and appealed for more initiatives to promote #peaceful co-existence. Participants' comments indicated a great change in the lives of Fulbe specifically a decrease in stereotyping, decrease in farmer-herder clashes and a significant increase in Fulbe child enrollment in schools. Did you meet Vera at #GYEO2024 and want to know more about her outfit? Vera Jawol Magan is the Director of YEFL-Ghana, an organization partnered with USAID - Office of Transition Initiatives (OTI)'s Littoral's Regional Initiative to help promote peaceful coexistence and integration of marginalized Fulbe youth into decision-making structures. Youth Empowerment for Life (YEFL-Ghana) and the Fulani Youth Association of Ghana (FUYAG) co-created and jointly implemented a Fulbe youth leadership and mentorship bootcamp. Here's where Vera's outfit comes in. The youth involved in the bootcamps realized they could work together and sell some handicrafts and products outside of their communities. "I got this from one of those sessions. One of those ladies handmade this. It was so beautiful. And now I'm here on a global stage, showcasing what was done by a young person in a very traditional, local community," Vera said. "That was a very powerful and empowering economic space for these young people."

The Fulbe community in Ghana faces significant challenges, including discrimination, social exclusion and vulnerability to exploitation by criminal groups. To address these issues, Creative Associates International, YEFL-Ghana and the Fulani Youth Association of Ghana (FUYAG) have implemented a transformative bootcamp model under the USAID - Office of Transition Initiatives (OTI) Littorals Regional Initiative. "The bootcamp is a self-empowerment and self-discovery process," says YEFL-Ghana's Director Jawol Vera Magan. "We had young people that didn't have a voice. When you go through discrimination, you have trauma." At #GYEO2024, Creative's Matthew Witting, YEFL-Ghana's Jawol Vera Magan and FUYAG's Ahmed Barry (calling in virtually) highlighted how the bootcamp program focuses on trauma healing, leadership, and conflict resolution training. By equipping Fulbe youth with essential skills, the bootcamp empowers them to become proactive leaders and build bridges within their communities.
