🇬🇷🇸🇦 It was a distinct honor to welcome H.E. Mr. Fahad Alhashem, Assistant Deputy Minister for Investment Development at the Ministry of Investment of Saudi Arabia (MISA), as a Keynote Speaker of the Athens Riviera Summit 2024, hosted by Athens Riviera Forum. In his address, H.E. Mr. Fahad Alhashem outlined the pivotal cooperation between Greece and Saudi Arabia, illuminating the ongoing joint projects and significant prospects for further expanding the bilateral investment and economic ties. He also focused on the growing opportunities in key sectors such as real estate and tourism, along with emerging areas of cooperation like digital infrastructure and energy. Showcasing Saudi Arabia’s economic transformation and robust growth, the Assistant Deputy Minister of Investment unveiled the highly attractive investment landscape of the Kingdom. Spotlighting the tourism and investment growth of the Athens Riviera, H.E. Mr. Alhashem stressed the importance of knowledge-sharing and collaboration between the Red Sea and the Athens Riviera, given their shared characteristics and strong potential in large-scale developments. During the #Dialogue on mega projects in real estate and infrastructure, he emphasized the crucial role of advanced cooperation between the public and the private sector, while supporting the effective adoption of technology and sustainability in influential regeneration projects, to the benefit of the people. The discussion was expertly moderated by Mr. Alexandros Costopoulos, Founder & CEO of FORESIGHT Strategy & Communications and was joined by Mr. Emmanouil Moustakas, Chairman of Integrated Resort Complex (IRC) Ellinikon. 🇬🇷🇺🇸 It was truly an honor to welcome the Ambassador of the United States to the Hellenic Republic, Mr. George J. Tsunis, who delivered a compelling Keynote Address during the Opening Session of the Athens Riviera Summit 2024. The bilateral relations between Greece and the United States have never been stronger, said the Ambassador, commending Greece’s remarkable economic transformation to one of Europe’s fastest-growing economies. Ambassador Tsunis underscored the metamorphosis of the Athens Riviera and the resurgence of the Greek economy, which is attracting major U.S. #investments, while stating in Greek that our country possesses one of the most important assets any capital allocator would look for: πανέξυπνοι και σπουδαγμένοι άνθρωποι (intelligent and educated people). Ambassador Tsunis described his service as the U.S. Ambassador to Greece as the greatest honor of his life. Delving into the significance of the impactful friendship and cooperation between Greece and the United States, the Ambassador highlighted Greece’s commitment to values and principles –which is highly respected by Washington– and spotlighted its role as a pillar of stability and a key NATO ally in a region marked by multiple arcs of instability. We had the great honor of hosting His Excellency Abdulla Balalaa at the Athens Riviera Summit 2024, held June 18-20, at the Four Seasons Astir Palace Hotel Athens, in Vouliagmeni. H.E. Abdulla Balalaa participated in the Summit’s proceedings and joined Mr. Theodoros Skylakakis, Minister of Environment and Energy of Greece, in the Dialogue “Investing in Energy Security: Strategic Energy Partnerships, the Path to the Green Transition & Effective Economic Cooperation in Unstable Times”, moderated by Ms. Maria-Nefeli Sarafoglou, Journalist & News Anchor at ANT1. The Ministers reaffirmed the robust strategic partnership between Greece and the UAE, highlighting the UAE’s prominent international position in the energy sector, Greece’s key role in energy security, and the significant potential for investments in Greece’s renewable energy landscape, referring to the Terna Energy Transaction as a testament of the advanced bilateral cooperation and a strong vote of confidence to the Greek economy. On June 20th, during the visit, the mega deal between Masdar (Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company), the UAE’s clean energy leader, and GEK TERNA Group of Companies for the acquisition of TERNA ENERGY was announced, marking one of the largest agreements in the Greek and European RES market. On the sidelines of the Summit, bilateral meetings with several key Greek Counterparts focused on deepening Greece-UAE economic ties, energy partnerships, and investment cooperation.
