  • Research Development Fellowship Support - Africa: CCC has recently signed an agreement with the African Research Excellence Fund (AREF) to support a one-year Research Development Fellowship (RDF) through AREF’s bespoke Fellowship Awards Programme. The Research Development Fellowships (RDFs) aim to develop emerging early-career African scientists working on important challenges for human health, growing their skills, experience, confidence, and research outputs/innovations. The fellowships consist of a three to nine-month placement at a leading research institution in Europe or Africa, with additional support at the home institution before and after the placement. The RDF Programme enables talented early-career researchers to increase their research capability by: • acquiring advanced research skills • developing and testing their own compelling research questions • developing highly effective academic mentoring relationships • growing their potential research collaborations • raising their profile through international networking The fellowship will cover the full cost of an RDF at a research institution, coaching and mentorship, and participation in a grant writing workshop. CCC’s continuous support of AREF’s mission and programmes is aligned with one of its main CSR priorities which is education and hopes to support another post-doctoral research fellow in the coming year.

  • 🔴 The #BuiltEnvironment accounts for 40% of global energy-related CO2 emissions and is not on track to meet the climate goals of the #ParisAgreement. Urgent attention and collective action are needed.   ➡ That's why we contributed to the launch of the Built Environment Market Transformation Action Agenda - to guide stakeholders towards halving emissions by 2030 and reaching #netzero by 2050: https://lnkd.in/eAExNGAE   We call for actors from business, finance, policy and science to collectively advocate for commitment to systemic #decarbonization by pulling on the 3 key transformational levers:    🔹 Adopt life-cycle thinking and Whole-Life Carbon Assessment across the full value chain and align key indicators, metrics and targets.    🔹 Integrate the carbon cost and reflect it in the price of products and services throughout the value chain, including in procurement and taxonomy.    🔹 Transform the supply and demand dynamics to incentivize low-carbon solutions based on the Whole-Life Carbon approach.   As a result of the Buildings and Climate Global Forum, held in Paris on 7-8 March and organized by the French government and UNEP, 70 countries endorsed a Ministerial "Declaration de Chaillot" that echoes those critical interventions and the deep need for collaboration.

The Declaration de Chaillot, adopted on 8 March 2024, is not just a document; it's a global call to action. It outlines a comprehensive roadmap towards decarbonization, enhancing climate resilience, and ensuring a just transition that aligns with the ambitious goals of the Paris Agreement. As a leading international construction company, we are proud to have endorsed this declaration, recognizing the urgent need for transformation within our industry. • CCC’s Journey Towards Renewable Energy   CCC is currently constructing the world’s largest green hydrogen production facility to produce green ammonia. The facility is located at NEOM’s Oxagon region and will be completed by 2026. The $8 billion plant, jointly owned by AirProducts, Saudi Arabia’s ACWA Power and Neom, will produce 650 tons of green hydrogen per day.   CCC’s blueprint features a state-of-the-art Air Separation Unit, a massive 2 GW Hydrogen Electrolysis Plant, expansive Hydrogen and Nitrogen Storage Facilities, and a pioneering Green Ammonia Plant capable of producing 5,000 tons per day.   By turning the tide towards renewable resources, CCC is not only #BuildingTheFuture, but also nurturing the planet for generations to come. All this aligns with the global efforts to transition to renewable energy sources, reducing carbon emissions and fostering a sustainable future.
