On February 24, at Electra Palace Thessaloniki, the CEO of ThPA S.A., Dr. Ioannis Tsaras, participated in the 8th Thessaloniki Development Conference by the Hellenic Institute for Research and Development (EL.IN.E.K.A.), joining the panel "Infrastructure – Education – Healthcare", which featured high-level speakers. Dr. Tsaras highlighted that, with the issuance of the Presidential Decree for the Master Plan of the Port of Thessaloniki, ThPA S.A. is ready to fully implement its development plan, reinforcing the port’s role as More than a Port. Major investments are moving forward, with the Pier 6 expansion -the flagship investment- unlocking new economic and social potential for Thessaloniki and the wider region. In a key milestone for maritime decarbonization, the Port of Thessaloniki (ThPA S.A.) has become the first port in the EU and the Mediterranean to integrate RightShip’s Maritime Emissions Portal (MEP) under the HELMEPA-led METAVASEA project, with the support of Lloyd’s Register Foundation. Through this one-year pilot, Thessaloniki sets a new regional benchmark for sustainability, providing critical insights into value chain (Scope 3) emissions and enabling targeted, data-driven action. This pioneering initiative significantly advances emissions monitoring, empowering ports and shipping stakeholders to track and reduce their environmental impact. ThPA S.A., Dimera Land & Property Investments Ltd, and the Hellenic Republic (the Ministry of Justice) have signed a sub-concession agreement for the hosting of the services of the Thessaloniki Court of Appeal in buildings within the Port. The agreement was signed yesterday, Tuesday, February 18, 2025, at the Court of Thessaloniki, in the presence of the Minister of Justice, Mr. Georgios Floridis, and representatives of the contracting parties.
