The #AirportCity at #HKIA is gearing up in full steam to transform into a leading global commercial, cultural, entertainment and recreational #landmark! It will become the largest of its kind in the region. Building on HKIA’s unique location and its new infrastructure, the Airport City blueprint aims to integrates the airport’s core functions with related business segments to generate strong synergy. With land resources on the Hong Kong Port Island of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge and the bay area between the airport island and Tung Chung, we are more than doubling the scale of the development. The expansion features new projects that include an ecosystem for the art industry, AsiaWorld-Expo Phase 2 development, a marina with ancillary facilities, a ’’Jet Fresh Market’, and more. These exciting developments are set to transform the Airport City into a world-leading landmark, drawing visitors from Hong Kong, the Greater Bay Area and across the globe, and driving the economic growth in both Hong Kong and the wider region. Since the Airport City blueprint was unveiled in 2019, AAHK have proactively taken forward various projects. A new hotel and three Grade-A office towers have opened, while the retail, dining and entertainment complex of 11 SKIES will open in phases starting late 2025. #HKIA #hongkongairport #hkg #aviation #airports

Connecting Hong Kong to the world, #HKIA offers a wealth of career opportunities for professionals. Hear from Michelle, who rejoined the #AAHK family as a #GraduateEngineer in Technical Services Infrastructure after her internship with us: “As a Graduate Engineer, I’ve gained all-round exposure across various engineering disciplines. Beyond airfield maintenance, I've had the opportunity to participate in strategic projects like the Zhuhai Aviation Industrial Cluster and the UPS Chek Lap Kok Hub, sharpening my technical skills in aerodrome design and project management. What sets AAHK’s Graduate Engineer Programme apart is its emphasis on business acumen. The close guidance from experienced mentors has been crucial in propelling my professional growth. We also get to be part of a close-knit community of professionals who share a passion for #aviation and #engineering.” Here comes your chance to join Michelle and other like-minded aviation engineering professionals. Enrol in the #AAHK Graduate Engineer Programme by 17 November 2024 here: https://bit.ly/3Y5rE1x to benefit from rigorous on-the-job training and progressive career development. #HKIAjobs #HKIAcareer #hkia #hkairport #hongkongairport #hkairport #airports #hkg #recruiting #engineer #jobs #HKIE

We’re adamant in elevating our people’s #wellbeing, and that includes their #families. To create opportunities for our employees to further bond with their families, we organised Wellness Week 2024 and were delighted to welcome over 1,200 attendees. Between 25 and 30 August, an array of activities filled the event calendar — wellness talks hosted by experts on anti-aging, social well-being and relationship management; exercise classes; a mini wellness expo offering body composition assessments and nutrition guidance, and more. The “KidZania Trial Fun Day”, featuring a series of immersive edu-tainment adventures for kids, was also jointly organised with the AA Staff Club. In addition, the “Bring Your Family to Work Day” gave our employees an invaluable opportunity to show their loved ones what they do every day, allowing them to connect with each other even more closely! #hongkongairport #hkairport #hkg #airports #aviation #HKIAculture #wellness #companyculture #staffactivities #AAWellnessWeek

With all three runways at #HKIA set to begin operations by the end of this year, we have been testing our #preparedness and familiarising ourselves with the emergency procedures under the Three-runway System. Early this morning, we successfully completed an aircraft crash and rescue exercise on the reconfigured Centre Runway. The exercise involved over 1,000 representatives from more than 20 organisations and government departments. In the simulated scenario, a departing passenger flight aborted its takeoff on the Centre Runway. The braking led to the collapse of a main landing gear, causing the fuselage to crash onto the runway and a fire to break out in the aircraft’s starboard-side engine. We immediately activated the Airport Emergency Centre to facilitate coordination among various parties for firefighting and rescue, medical care, casualty conveyance and other emergency responses. Every year, the airport conducts over 100 drills, exercises and training seminars. To prepare for the commencement of the Three-runway System, we have added 50 additional exercises. Now let’s take a look at the crash exercise! #hkia #hkairport #hongkongairport #hkg #airport #safety

It often takes sparks of extraordinary creativity to solve our day-to-day operational challenges. Launched in 2016, the Work Improvement Team (#WIT) programme has since been the go-to platform for our staff to showcase their invaluable insights and creativity. We’re excited to announce that this year, the programme’s Grand Award – Gold goes to "Hazard 3 Team" from our APM & Baggage Department. With over 80,000 items passing through our airport’s #BaggageHandlingSystem daily, locating misplaced bags poses a challenge. “Hazard 3 Team” proposed a simple yet effective solution: by equipping an empty sorter tray with a 5G-enabled camera, the baggage handling team can gain access to real-time footage of the sorting process, thereby enabling remote monitoring, issue identification and swift resolution. This solution has significantly reduced inspection times from 75 minutes to about four minutes for capturing footage and 15 minutes for review, leading to substantial time savings and increased operational efficiency. Dedicated to fostering a workplace culture of continuous improvement and problem-solving, we are proud of all the winners and participants of the WIT programme. One more round of applause to “Hazard 3 Team” for their brilliant idea and exemplary attitude! #hongkongairport #hkairport #hkg #airports #aviation #innovation #HKIAWIT

The sight of a plane soaring over #KowloonWalledCity is one of the nostalgic emblems of Hong Kong‘s past. As a gateway to the city, we’re inviting travellers to explore this legendary landmark by organising the “Live out the Cinematic Charm of Hong Kong” Twilight of the Warriors: Walled In exhibition in partnership with the Hong Kong Tourism Board, the Cultural and Creative Industries Development Agency, and the production companies of the movie Twilight of the Warriors: Walled In. Now open in T1’s Arrivals Hall A, the exhibition vividly recreates iconic scenes from the movie, meticulously depicting life in Kowloon Walled City during the 1980s. Inside the double-storey structure, which is built to real-life proportions, six exhibition zones – Barber Shop, Tea Stall, Store/Plastic Flower Workshop, Well/Home Appliance Store, Back Alley, and Attic – let visitors relive memorable moments from the movie and explore the unique cultural #heritage of Hong Kong. #hkia #hkairport #hongkongairport #hkg #airport #KowloonWalledCity #HongKongMovie
